Debate topic:

This year's KU team is a heaping mess, and the performance of the coaching staff doesn't give much hope for a happy ending.

I'll take the affirmative side (i.e., yes, it's a heaping mess). Anyone want to volunteer for the other side? Might make for an interesting thread...

listening to the crickets chirp.....

My only contrary comment would be that it's still a work in progress and like most years, we'll find out a LOT more after the season's over (injuries, personnel issues, etc.). Won't fix things in the long run, but will probably answer some questions people have about some of the coaching decisions that have been made.

A great vintner can make a good wine out of a bad year! B)

HCBS knows what he is doing -- we don't (know what he is doing).

Most every year we go through this whining and lamenting. :(

We are still a top ten team and will most likely get a decent seed next month. ;)

Get angry, worried, wallow in despair, :S it won't change much.

Ask the question again in a month -- I'd like to see how I answer then,

Most every year we go through this whining and lamenting.

Nope, for me, this year has a very different feel to it.

I'm curious if others feel that way.

PS: Just because I said I'd take the "affirmative" doesn't mean I'm 100% in that corner. I'm more like 70%, which means I feel comfortable taking on that role (even if it's just devil's advocate). In other words, you don't have to fully "buy in" to one side or the other to make the case for it.

We are all always "in". The question is whether we have gone off the deep end or the safer side.

At this point, it seems prudent (for my sanity, anyway) to maintain standing depths.

You mean in the Crossfire game?

I'm surfing the Board every few minutes while I'm suppose to be working

I'll check in with the thread, but I don't think I have much to add beyond those with heavy-weight bball acumen such as you and NotO. ;)

Of course I'm always ready to "stir the pot!" :P

Haha, yes. (Me too on the work thing...I'm supposed to be building things, not tearing things down on the RCB, LOL)

It's funny, I enjoyed parts of the game last night but then woke up today and thought about all kinds of tangible and intangible things that make me believe that the "aircraft" is still in a cross-current tailspin.

(To wit: Frank being worn out and injured; Selden going completely MIA last night and having the worst body language all year--one game after the UK explosion, no less; Brannen firmly back in the doghouse, perhaps not to find a way out; our young bigs playing about 5 minutes combined and getting yanked at the first sign of trouble; Devonte constantly chasing his man from behind as he blows by him on the way to the hoop; Jamari's "good play to erratic mistake" ratio still hovering around 1:3; Andrew White averaging 17 ppg and 6 rpg for another team after not seeing any development opportunities with KU and transferring out; Self still fiddling big-time with the rotation and the ensuing uncertainty/lack of gelling that this causes; etc. etc.)

Hence, my proposal for the Crossfire exercise.

I hereby rescind said offer, however, since I have no time to partake (like you) and you can see where my line of argumentation would've started above, anyway.

This guy claims to have spotted Wayne (falling asleep and being 3 seconds behind on defensive plays, shoving Coach Self's arm away when Self tried to give him a mouthful during a timeout, etc.)...

...but he still has nary a clue where some chap named Hunter is...

_______________

(Knock, knock, knock)

Coach Self: "Who is it?"
Mick: "Hunter"
Coach Self: "Hunter's not here"

(Knock, knock, knock, knock)

Coach Self: "Who is it?"
Mick: "It's me, Hunter"
Coach Self: "Hunter's not here"
Mick: "No, man, I am Hunter"

(KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK)

Coach Self: "Who is it?"
Mick: "It's ME, Hunter"
Coach Self: "Hunter's not here"
Mick: "No, man, I am Hunter, now will you open up the *&*%&^%&^%& door?"
Coach Self: "Hunter's not here"
Mick: "Ay, caramba!"

I see you bought one of those "KU BBall Commentary Magic 8 Ball" things, Bay. Seems to work pretty well. :)

I'm glad to be able to at least provide some light-hearted distraction!

Given, the concerns and uncertainty floating around our beloved basketball team, we might as well have a good time...

I'm still just keeping the faith.

And I am quite amused by the ads. My last 4 have been for prepaid business jet travel, date Arab women, vegetables, and discount liposuction.

Seems all over the map, just like this team.

Let's see, I've had date Arab women, date Chinese women, date Russian women, date Asian women, I am naughty, and some bizarre thing with a finger that has warts or growths all over it (no clue what that ad was for because I can't take my mind off the others, haha!).

Yeah, pretty odd and pretty much all over the map...but I've almost got all 7 continents (and most countries therein) covered with the dating ads. (When I get the "date Penguins" ad for Antarctica, I'll be officially concerned)

Konza, unfortunately I share your same assessment of this season, something is amiss and it hasn't been a joy to watch this team play in awhile.
