We are holding on "at least 2 games to go" for each update until after the Big 12 Tournament, at which point we will be holding on "at least 1" for each update until KU is no longer playing in the NCAA tournament.
So -- today there are at least 2 games left in Perry's KU career.
A possible 2+6=8 games remain (yes, please, and thank you!)
In KU's B12T win against KState, Perry recorded:
21 points
6 rebounds
He needs 5 more points to pass Kevin Pritchard for 11th place, and
66 more points to pass Kirk Hinrich for 10th place (see below).
If he plays to his 16.6 PPG season average, he will pass Kevin tomorrow against Baylor,
but will need at least 4 more games (including tomorrow's game) to pass Kirk.
FWIW, he has scored 20 and 22 his last two games, and it would be so great to see him keep that up for 8 more games!!!
He is still 13th in rebounding, 10 behind Dave Robisch.
If he plays to his 6.0 RPG season average, he will need 2 games to pass Dave.
He will need 6 games (35 rebounds) to pass Cumulus Clyde (RIP, Jayhawk
), and
8 games (46 rebounds) to pass Scot.
Two more title games, anybody?
Based on the 2015-16 MBB Media Guide and KUAD Cumulative Statistics for 2015-16, these are the folks standing in Perry's path to the KUMBB Top 10 in Career Points and Career Rebounds.
KU CAREER POINTS LEADERS
KU CAREER REBOUNDS LEADERSNB: I added SCORING RANK to this table so you could see who were the best at doing both. As CorpusJayhawk pointed out earlier, only Danny, Nick and Raef are Top 10 in both lists. If you looked at who are in the Top 15 in both categories, you would then include Clyde, Perry and Dave Robisch. And again, the ONLY reason Wilt is not Top 10 in both is that he only played two years, a total of 48 games. With his KU leading career averages of 29.9 PPG and 18.3 RPG, he would have easily been Top 10 in both (a projected 2nd in scoring and 1st in rebounding) if he stayed for his senior year.
