Due to scurrilous and despicable character of DT (The creep) and the fact that I find in him no redeeming qualities, I say:

NOT MY PRESIDENT
NOT NOW
NOT EVER

and I am not trying to start a fight or be condescending or anything like that. I certainly cannot stand Trump either. But would you mind answering a few questions?

When people said that about Obama, and many did, what did you thing about them? Did you think they had a valid point or did you think that they were petty racists? Did you wish they would rise above their dislike of the person?

I respect your opinion and your right to feel however you want, I am seriously trying to understand the difference here.

We have a right, nay, the obligation, to demand certain standards of behavior and character in our president. The President-elect does not meet those requirements, as proven by his tweets, his comments about women, his attacks on those who dare to criticize him, his and his astronomical ego, to name but a few examples.

It is possible to support the presidency even if we disagree with the ideology or particular political slant of the person holding the office, and I have done that; however, I cannot embrace the person or the office in this case. It is not simply a matter of disliking him; it is a matter of his having no admirable traits which would qualify him to lead our country. No president ever had a hundred percent approval rating. President Obama had his critics, and those who rallied against him did not agree with what they saw as Socialism on his part, for one thing. But other than the relatively few who disliked him because of his race, there were few legitimate, if any, attacks on his character. Therein lies the difference.

I think this reply should answer in general the several questions you asked.

I appreciate your response. I totally agree about Trumps character and have said so in the past. I also said that I would not be going to his inauguration or inaugural balls which I have done for every President since I have been here (goes back to Reagan) due to my dislike of this person's character. (I know such a sacrifice, but just putting it out there to show my dislike for him as well.)

Regarding Obama, there certainly were those racially motivated to dislike him as well as those racially motivated to like him. I tend to disagree with you regarding his character. I think he has been very divisive, but I have always given him credit for being poised and possessing a more dignified persona. I strongly disagree with a lot of his policies, but have supported him on several of his actions as well.

I didn't think Obama met many of my standards for President, but clearly you feel much more strongly about Trumps personality in this area. I agree with a lot of your criticism of Trump. I do not find many admirable traits in the man either, but do note that he does have some (there are numerous stories of him stepping in and helping people out without a great deal of publicity about it, so he isn't Satan per se.)

Again, thank you for telling me why. It helps put in context the intense dislike I have seen and heard from many.
