Drumpf has made "Make America Great Again" his campaign slogan. It is implicit in this slogan that he and his followers think that the U.S. Is not great now. I saw a clip of a "man on the street" interview of Drumpf supporters in which the interviewer asked them when they thought America was last great. The answers where astounding!! One guy said 1913, before the 17th Amendment. Another said the post-WWII years. Another said the years of the Dubya/Cheney cabal. Huh?
So, here's a question for you republicans: when do you think America was last great?

Probably when Jackson was President. You remember the days of slaves, Indian massacres, child labor, etc

Ahhhh, the Reagan years! Iran-Contra. Stealing from Social Security. Closing mental hospitals. Doubling the national debt. Voodoo economics. Billions wasted on a "Starwars" fantasy that never came close to being implemented. Yep. Those were great times for sure!

Ignoring the AIDS epidemic as bodies piled up. Nancy's astrologer. Great times indeed!

Trickle down nothing and call it an economic plan....
Unfund and close down mental health facilities and then get shot by the insane guy...I see he's free today.

John Hinckly is the poster child for several things: the importance of keeping firearms out of the hands of the mentally ill and the fallacy that "good guys with guns," even highly trained good guys like Secret Service agents, are able to stop "bad guys with guns."

From this Democrat's perspective, America has always been great, from its inception and its innovative concept of democracy, through today.
However, I believe that its greatness began to be seriously challenged with the advent of the moral majority, then the religious right, followed by the teapartiers. (Notice that, by refusing to capitalize either of them, I give credence to none of them.)
In my opinion, our Forefathers wrote the Constitution in such a way to prevent what these fanatic, ultra-conservative groups continue to propagate.

Probably most of the 40% were Democrats that wouldn't allow themselves to give Reagan credit, no matter what. Example: DocBlues. Hopefully, The Donald will be able to turn around our faltering country again, like Reagan did after the Carter years.
