“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Dave:
I did not see this post until today, and just wanted to THANK YOU for finding and posting the video.
It's a beautiful piece, and it brought back so much nostalgia (with the associated memories and emotions) for me.
There is just something about a freshly fallen snow in Kansas, and all the more so on our magnificent campus.
Last comment: When I studied at KU, my daily walk from the southern end of Tennessee Avenue to campus (typically heading toward Blake or Fraser Hall) would take me up a huge hill, then directly past the Chancellor's residence. One photo in the video is of the latter. I maintain to this day that it is my "dream home" in its look...one of the most beautiful and classic homes you could ever hope to see.
Thanks again for the nostalgic walk down memory lane. Hail to old KU!

I had the same walk. I lived at 18th and Kentucky for two years. I was the guy reading a book as he walked.
