Well, that wasn’t the greatest time.
I made the trip up to Morgantown. I will first start by saying that the people we met at the stadium and around the town were fantastic. Very nice and open. Good natured and very welcoming.
I have been saying this a lot this season. When we lost our offensive coordinator I was worried that we wouldn’t have the same amount of pre-snap movement to help disrupt the defense. I think that is the case. We have some motion, but not enough to create the mismatches that we need.
Keeping with the offense, I think Daniels is really pressing too hard. I know he is back and healthy, but I feel like he is trying to live up to the press clippings and not playing relaxed and free. Forcing passes and not looking off the defense. He needs to take a breath and get back to quick decisions and forcing it down the field. Quick outs, short passes, draws, etc.
Defense. Ugh. Everyone keeps boasting about our secondary and all I see is giving up big plays and tons of yardage.
Our play calling at the end was terrible and that has been a few games of that. Those three running plays with the lead when we were in desperate need of a few first downs to run out the clock were unimaginative, predictable, and poorly executed.
The good news is that we have been in every game, unlike in the past. We could easily be undefeated right now. We aren’t and that stinks. This coach has created high hopes and because of that, these games hurt.
