I'm glad Bidunga decided to stay, but even that's a little frustrating knowing that KU probably had to go out and find a couple big bags of cash to keep him.
IMHO, it looks like we're going to get a group of 5 "unknown to me" starters that look good on paper, and will have to figure out a way to play together very quickly to be good. This could end up in a result anywhere between a National Championship and another first-round exit and middle-of-the-pack finish in the conference.
I have to put my faith in Self and the staff to get it right as they rebuild at team (again). I just don't find my enjoyment level anywhere near it was when guys came in, stayed and actually seemed to have some buy-in to the program rather than just grabbing cash as a historic program like KU has to beg for the favor of their presence.

Updating/annotating the last list I posted from Shay Wildeboor’s updated list of portal players still on the KU board as of 2025-04-07
Honor Huff
Point Guard
5'10" | 168 lbs
Junior @ Chattanooga
15.1 points
2.0 rebounds
2.2 assists
1.0 steals
43.4% from the field
42.7% from behind the arc
85.3% from the FT line
Kyan Evans
Point Guard
6'2" | 175 lbs
Sophomore @ Colorado State
10.3 points
3.0 rebounds
3.1 assists
47.4% from the field
41.2% from behind the arc
87.3% from the FT line
Per Shay at JayhawkSlant: No visits have been sent yet, but Kyan Evans from Colorado State is absolutely a Player to keep your eye on. He’s been in contact with the staff on numerous occasions and those conversations remain open.
RJ Luis Jr.
Small Forward
6'7" | 210 lbs
Junior @ St. John's
18.2 points
7.1 rebounds
2.1 assists
1.4 steals
44.6% shooting from the field
31.7% from behind the arc
74.5% from the FT line
Per Shay at JayhawkSlant: I think if there’s a guy you’re gonna spend some money on, you have to pay attention to RJ Luis from St. John’s. It’s my understanding right now that he’s focused on the NBA, but I think many believe that he will withdraw and when that happens, I’d look for some things to happen.

Point Guard
6'0" | 185 lbs
Senior RS @ Miami (FL)

Sophomore @ Monmouth

2.6 rebounds
2.2 assists
37.7% from the field
38.3% from behind the arc
86.8% from the FT line
As noted earlier, I'm not really crazy about Bashir, but watch him burn us in Manhattan. Just seems to be what happens.
To replay's query -- 20 PPG is great, but his efficiency stinks.
His overall shooting % is actually less than his % from three?
Tells me he can't drive and finish.
And at 6-7 160??? (I had to double check and it's right), he's going to get pushed around in a big boy league.

Shay reports (@11:30 AM CT):
• Melvin Council, Jr. had a great visit to Kansas.
Shay believes Kansas is the team to beat for him.
• Kansas has been in contact with Cedric Coward.
Coward was limited to just six games AY2024-25 due to a shoulder injury, but starred during those 6 (see stats above).

The visitor is not Cedric Coward but 2026 top dawg Tyran Stokes, who is looking to reclassify to 2025.
And Stokes *is* a dawg on the court!
Youtube.com: Tyran Stokes Junior Season Highlights #1 Ranked Player in the Class of 2026
Also note that per Shay KU is interested in 6-10|220 C Paul Mbiya from South Africa ... and I've read that the NBA Academy Africa athlete has actually grown to 260 lbs, making some think a bit of Azubuike...

With the above, KU's roster to date for next year before filling the final 4 roster openings of 14 (remember, KU has to take its final NCAA penalty next AY) looks like this ( (S) = scholarship, (W) = walk-on) -
SENIORS
G Melvin Council (S) (may actually be a grad student next fall, I need to check)
G Jayden Dawson (S)
F Tre White (S)
(G/F Justin Cross (W) probably not back given roster restrictions)
JUNIORS
G Noah Shelby* (S) (word is that former walk-on Shelby will be on scholarship AY2025-26)
(G Wilder Evers* (W) probably not back given roster restrictions)
SOPHOMORES
F Flory Bidunga (S)
G Elmarko Jackson* (S)
G Jamari McDowell* (S)
FRESHMEN
G Darryn Peterson (S)
F Bryson Tiller (S)
F Samis Calderon (S)
G Jaden Nickens (W) (dual sport KUFB scholarship holder, still takes a KUMBB roster spot))
* Red-shirted in past
Also note the likelihood that Oak Park HS senior Corbin Allen may be coming next fall leaves just 2 roster sports to fill to get to 14 for AY2025-26. One of those just might be filled by Class of 2026 #1 (247Sports)/#2 (Rivals) Tyran Stokes, who is visiting KU starting Friday and is reportedly looking to reclassify to 2025.

Also note that per Shay KU is interested in 6-10|220 C Paul Mbiya from South Africa ... and I've read that the NBA Academy Africa athlete has actually grown to 260 lbs, making some think a bit of Azubuike...

TUESDAY 2025-04-22
is the last date for prospective transfers to enter the portal and be eligible to play at their new school next Fall without an NCAA waiver.
EXCEPTIONS
1. Graduated student athletes with remaining eligibility are not bound by the portal rules.
2. The only other exception will be for players who experience a coaching change at their current schools. Regardless of the window, they have 30 days after the change takes place to enter the transfer portal.
We might see a mini-rush of entrants over the next few days as the portal closes.
