OT, Women’s BB update
1. I think some of you remember that I am not a Schneider fan and predicted that the women’s BB team would be, at best, a middle of the pack team in the Big 12. That appears to be the case currently.
2. My biggest concern was/is the lack of a true, offensive and defensive center that can compete with the high quality Bigs in many of the Big 12 opponents, especially KSU and ISU who we both play twice this year.
3. On the positive side, the team is playing well, is quick, plays good defense and is able to beat other middle ranked teams while losing to teams we are predicted to lose to. We have not been blown out by superior ranked teams.
4. On an even more positive side, we have some amazing young players who are going to impact the team for years to come. The three signed recruits for next year are outstanding but we are still missing a dominant Big.
5. The current team is an excellent 3-point shooting team and has excellent point guard play from Nichols, Conesa, and Copeland.
6. Looks like we have had some major injuries including Mayberry, who was expected to be an important ball hander and provide senior leadership. I think we are redshirting a number of players.
7. Like the men’s team, think positive tboughts.

VB update
KU just announced that the very successful VB coach at Oregon, Matt Ulmer, will take over as head coach of the women's VB program. A friend and I were just discussing this and wondered why move from Oregon? Ulmer has four young children and we speculated that it might be due to the excess travelling required being now in the Big 10. Thoughts? Looks like a great hire by Goff. I had heard that there was great interest in the position after Bechard announced his retirement.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
That is excellent news, hoshi, thanks!
If the speculation about the travel time for B1G members being a factor is accurate, that is fantastic news for the Big 12. Hope it is!

He tried to recruit a big through the portal but couldn't find any that wanted to come to KU. Quality bigs in the women's game are in high demand and low in number.hoshi wrote: OT, Women’s BB update

I also heard that the NIL money being asked was prohibitive.
