“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
It just wouldn't be a KU-Grape basketball game without some post-game controversy.

Remember the Alamo! (er, "GrapeBumpGate")

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Somehow I think that in the near future Cowherd is going to be more concerned with what *he* said in response to Self's comments than in Self's comments themselves.
"It didn't do anything at all to hurt the image of KU basketball," Cowherd said. "There's not a person in America that wakes up this morning and goes, 'You know, Wilt Chamberlain played there, several national titles, basketball juggernaut, but this morning, I just think of Kansas as Iowa State basketball. I think of them as a shady, Division II trucking school.' "
I can just see the storm clouds building as Cyclones fans learn of that comment.
Of course, Colin is a jerk who thrives on stirring the pot, so there you go.
Still... things that make you go hmmm...

I thought the exact same thing, HE.
And yes, he's a jerk. Just thought it was interesting because Newell tweeted it out, probably because it's getting national play for some stupid reason. (Just saw that moron, Jeff Goodman, also making way too big of a deal of it on TV--like Brannen had just mooned the entire Octagon of Doom or something on the way off the court!)

I think there just needs to be a parting of ways at this point...
