CBSSports.com: Jim Larranaga stepping down at Miami: Hurricanes coach leaving post amid 4-8 start to season

Guess the only real surprise is him doing it midseason. Press conference with formal announcement to come.

CBSSports.com Larranaga announced

And there’s this on OligarchyRUs (caveat emptor - I have no idea who Reinhardt is…)

Rob Reinhart
@RealRobReinhart
Sources: Several coaches have already expressed interest in the HC opening at Miami following Jim Larrañega’s exit this afternoon, including:

- Micah Shrewsberry (Notre Dame)
- Mark Schmidt (St. Bonaventure)
- Ed Cooley (Georgetown)
- TJ Otzelberger (Iowa State)
- Todd Golden (Florida)
- Stan Heath (E. Michigan)
- Bob Huggins

I’m told that those listed above are already engaged in initial talks with the program, and that the move would be in-season and effective immediately.

My thoughts on the above -

TJ? Only to drive up $ @ISU

Huggins? The only one immediately available without upsetting another apple cart… but will Miami want him?

Don’t know enough about the other guys, but on Shrewsberry - ND is a good job from what I know, and it’s not like he’d be going to UNC (historically nudging & winking, eh Jayhawks fans?), and in today’s seismically shifting landscape it’s a bit of solid ground.

And the preceding makes me wonder why Golden would leave SEC embedded UF for ACC’s Miami?
