"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Kansas brought nothing with them to Omaha.
The only area KU was better was in having fewer turnovers, and that difference was fueled by KU making 11 steals to CU's 2.
EVERY other aspect of the game our guys were beaten and beaten badly.
It was ugly.
It's hard to believe that KU, supposedly a good shooting team, took 70 FGAs to CU's 53, yet lost.
KU *missed* on 45 FGAs tonight, just 8 FGAs fewer than CU total FG attempts.
34.8% is what KU shot from three, but despite having our supposedly dominant inside game still only managed
36.2% from inside the arc for a total of
35.7% from the field.
Ugly.
It's also hard to believe KU was outrebounded 44 to 31.
CU got 38 DRebounds to KU's 9 ORebs.
Until this team is told to crash the offensive boards, there will be more of this when the shots are not falling.
Ugly.
And did our guys really foul 2.4 times more often in this game than CU did?
17 PFs to just 7 for CU?
Wow.
Ugly.
Ugly, ugly, ugly.

Agree, but I'm not too concerned about a loss in early December to an amped up team on its home court. What does concern me is that, imo, anyway, these guys are slow and can't shoot. That may seem harsh, but this is at least the third team they've played this year that looked WAY quicker than KU. And I don't think KU is a good shooting team. The percentages look good when Hunter and KJ are hitting a bunch of bunnies, but shooting 3s or mid-range jumpers? No.
Maybe if Storr and Griffen come around and really play well this team will look different, but at this point, I fear it's going to be a tough slog in the Big 12.

Came out flat, weren't making shots and Crieghton couldn't miss. Throw in a road game with road refs and you're looking at a big challenge...the kind that we tend to pull off anyway. Just not tonight.
Losing at Creighton isn't going to hurt us any all by itself.
Nevertheless, one thing is very clear to me: Hunter is pretty good against smaller/inferior bigs, but when facing somebody his size or considered to be a "top level" big, he wilts. We just have to accept this and game plan around it. Regardless of his "all American" list status, he can't back it up vs. competitive players. Thank goodness we have Budinga and it was actually good to see Clemence see some success last night because I don't think Hunter is the kind of player who can put us on his back and drag to victory. If we're playing an inferior big, fine, let him get his layups and fadaways. Next time we face good one, however, get ready to platoon a bunch of guys in to pick up H's slack. It is what is. Just have to gameplan for it.
