I have to say, overall I'm very excited about this team. They are very deep, seem to have all the right pieces (bigs and guards), play really good defense (as far as I can tell) and seem to all be gelling well as a team. I think their ceiling is incredible. I also think we've only seen spurts of how good they can be. By the end of the year, if they are peaking and can be more consistent they could definitely make a very deep run in March!
I'm excited...let me know others thoughts!

I agree. They have shown that they can win multiple ways. I really like the versatility of AJ Storr and Rylan Griffen. I also like having 3 good ball handlers in Dajuan Harris, Zeke Mayo, and David Coit. I am still concerned that KJ Adams doesn't shoot 3s. I think that is a major weakness but he does so many other things so well I see why he plays. Hopefully they can keep up the good work.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
With this roster, KJ is usually the only guy of the 5 on the floor that is not a capable 3 point shooter.
So with this team I’m not concerned about that shortcoming.
What is a concern is when he’s not rebounding. We really need him crashing the boards, but he has games where that aspect of his game disappears. When he consistently brings rebounding to the game with everything else he does so well, KANSAS wins.
REBOUND, KJ!
Thanks!

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Still a work in progress, but there are MANY combos available to us. Also excited to see that HCBS is looking at playing Bidunga and Dickensen at the same time. Dickensen still drives me crazy with weak layups that should be dunks, but it's nice to know that if any particular component isn't operating properly, another option (or options) are available.
Nevertheless, they're nowhere near their ceiling yet. Still some growing pains to work through, but once these guys are REALLY used to playing together, they're going to be crazy good. More important, NOBODY gets though the season unscathed, wheher due to injury or other issues. It's nice t know that we have the depth to take some hits that will inevitably come.

It'll feel better when it stops hurting
There are so many nice pieces to this team and it changes dramatically depending upon who is on the floor. When Dickinson is out and Flo is in it is a truly fast team and really fun to watch. I can't say enough about Zeke and what a great addition he is (can you say "Remy!!") .Any one of our 3 pt shooters can get hot at any time and will gain confidence in Self's system with more minutes. Playing Flo and Hunter at the same time may help give Hunter a little more added incentive because right now he seems uninspired. KJ does what he needs to do at any given moment so I don't worry about him or Dajuan. I have even seen Zach with some good minutes on both ends of the floor.

HCBS has been at this long enough to be a master at fitting together the various skillsets versus whatever matchup the Hawks face. He has as much depth as I have seen at KU in a very long time. There appear to be at least 11 players who get on the court before mop up minutes. One of them, Dajaun, seems essential. If depth at the point emerges March will be most interesting.
