There’s a bit of a lull in the rarified air around hoops haven Mount Oread as the college basketball world awaits the passing of the NCAA’s May 29 NBA Draft withdrawal deadline.

While the May 15 spring signing window deadline is just 6 days away, there is no sign KU has a HS recruit it is pursuing to take the #12 ride Riley Kugel missed out on due to his own academic negligence. All signs are KU will look to fill it with a talent who opts to withdraw from the NBA draft. And I am more and more convinced that the #13 ride is Johnny Furphy’s if he surprises everyone and returns, or the last payment on the NCAA IARP penalty when he doesn’t.

In other words, Self & Co have two rides that could be filled, but most likely we’ll only see the one taken.
