Since we unjustly had wins stricken we all know we are now behind Kentyucky. By my calculations we are only two games behind them. They lost this week, we won so that's good. Stinks that we are in such a tough conference and they are in the junky SEC...
Anyway, I'm pretty sure we will take it back over this season. Thoughts?

You are correct. My bad. Thanks for correcting that! We have 17 wins this season to their 15 and we started five games back. So three to go!

Weird season so far. A lot of our typical expectations are out the window. Yes, the Big 12 is a meat grinder, but we've had some unforced errors as well. Not trying to be Debbie Downer on ths, but winding up net 3 games ahead of them might be far from an uncontested layup. Not only will it be tough to advance in the conference tournament, I worry about this team's ability to close the deal in tight games played outside of AFH, which could spell trouble in the tourney.
Just really hoping that these guys figure out how to play up to the pre-season expectations.
Throw in an easier path for UK and it's not an automatic that we pass them (again) this year.
Not to leave on a low note: I think we need to REALLY celebrate re-taking the all time wins title when it happens. Doing it the first time was pretty cool, but getting kicked back a fair distance and then speeding past them again is pretty sweet.

Those expectations initially assumed we were good to go with our starting 5 - with Morris as our dynamic shooting/scoring guard. (We saw what he could do in Puerto Rico - KU would've been set out of the gate had he not been such a cretin and been let go.)
The media then didn't adjust their rankings based on that massive personnel loss. And KU (Self and the staff) has been trying to make up for it, via varied lineup rotations, ever since. It's led to a true roller-coaster ride in terms of good vs. bad (well, putrid) games along the way. But I just have a feeling (subconscious content analysis in play, watching game to game and the team's evolution?) that we're starting to find some answers. Furphy becoming a starter at the 2 - and playing decently to solidly, game to game - in that role has helped a lot. Dajuan seemingly realizing he has to become more than just a distributor with this particular team (in contrast to the '22 natty team, for example) is another - IF that is true. (You never know with him - passivity can kick back in). And the bench guys are starting to bring a lot more energy.
I just have a better feeling right now than I have in the past few weeks. Today will tell us a LOT. Houston is really good. Comfortably at the top in KenPom, and passing the eye test in spades. Beat them in Allen today and we'll know (as we did with UConn, etc.) that we can hang with the big dogs come tourney time. The question is can this team win 6 straight? After the ISU loss, I would've said definitively no - too many different styles to face in the tourney, and we're so inconsistent. But if we have truly turned a corner (again, pending the outcome of today's game as yet another signpost), maybe we can?
More to say on this (re: the games of specific guys on our team and our strengths vs. weaknesses) as we go, but that's enough for now, on a game day.
Should be fun watching it all play out.

The preseason hype also included Marcus Adams Jr (who's played in one game at BYU) and Chris Johnson who's riding the pines at Texas.
