They played with a little more pep in their step and got the win even though they did not shoot the ball real well.

Biggest thing that made a difference in this game was that they only had TWO turnovers, after having18 in each of the first two conference games. And those 2 turnovers were not dumb errors or fumbles or outright steals (leading to fast break points), but both were cases of the passer and receiver not being in sync and the ball sailing out of bounds because the receiver wasn't where the passer thought he would be (Hunter to Dajuan, Kevin to KJ).

Right behind the turnovers # was the free throw #s.
Against UCF KU went 6-11 from the line, whereas they were almost perfect today.

Rebounding (KU 38, OU 39), personal fouls (KU 14, OU 16) and shooting (KU 29-66 | 44%, OU 24-60 | 40%) were all close.

FT shooting (KU 17-18, OU 12-17) and
turnovers (KU 2, OU 11) were the difference.

The turnovers differential gave KU 9 extra possessions our guys would not otherwise have had, giving them the chance to take 6 additional shot attempts.

HUGE.

Great observations on what was really the difference in the game. In my post earlier I was just trying to point out that getting a win when you shoot 20% from behind the arc means you did a lot of other things well.

HCBS teams know how to win even when they don’t shoot well. HcBS also said it would be a long Conf season if Hawks can’t hit some 3pt’s. Hopefully, 3pts start falling.
