Would you believe it's only the second true road game this season?
And we're already into January!
Kansas played below expectation (again) in the opener, though in the
single digits, so the Jayhawks' consistency has been improving, and
has been remarkable these last seven games. But it took a former
Jayhawk to help Kansas win the game. UCF is ranked a fair bit lower
than TCU, so hopefully there will be more breathing room this time
around, but it's a road game in an unfamiliar venue, so who knows?
Only one of the usual prognosticators is picking Central Florida,
namely RealTime, which uses an enormous home court advantage. Had
he used a more normal home court advantage, the sign would have
flipped on that prediction. Colley is the most optimistic with a
predicted margin of a bit over 8 points, or a three possession game.
The Knights played only two non-conference opponents from the Top 100,
losing both. Their conference opener was in Manhattan, and they were
embarrassed. These opponents who play such weak non-conference
schedules are hard to predict, and I'd hate to hang my hat on a
single conference game, but this game just feels like it will be
easier than the predicted margins would suggest.
Rock Chalk!

There are no common opponents. Not much of a surprise, considering how weak a

I might take these with a grain of salt, as it appears that Greenfield has a
serious bug in their database, based on the fact that the Kansas player with the
most minutes is Charlie McCarthy with 37.00, the Kansas player with the most
points is Charlie McCarthy with 34.00, and the Kansas player with the most steals
is Charlie McCarthy with 2.00. "To err is humnan; to really screw up takes a

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Thanks as always, Asteroid. I hope the team isn't reading this and thinking they can mail it in tonight. I'd be thrilled to see a nice relaxing blowout where I'm not white knuckling it so close to bedtime.
One semi-unrelated question: does anybody know what happened to Sagarin's basketball predictions? He seems to be doing other sports, but has bailed on NCAA basketball this year? Any scuttlebutt out there on why he's not posting?

All I know is that USA Today discontinued carrying Sagarin's ratings. I assume that there is no longer any financial incentive to take the time to do them.
For some time, I've been wanting to do my own ratings, but I doubt I'll have the time until after I retire.
