Assuming OU beats TCU tomorrow (which is pretty close to a certainty), KU holds serve against KSU on Wed, and ISU protects their home court against WVU, that would leave Oklahoma in sole possession of first place in the Big 12 (at 7-2) and a logjam in second place with 5 teams at 6-3. And that's half-way through the conference schedule. This is going to be fun...nerve wracking, but fun!

Yep, fasten your seat belts, sports fans!
“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.

Ain't got none of Mr. Jay's Wild Ride... and even if we did, we don't need no stinkin' seat belts -- we got Jayhawk talons, brah!

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
"Hey Marcus Allen, you're benched."
Or, more relevant to this situation: "Just win baby."
Baylor losing certainly helps, and ISU beating WVU would also be great.
We have two games that we should win (KSU and @TCU) that we have to make sure we don't turn into "trap games".
Next week, however, will likely decide our fate: whether we're still in the hunt, or kicked to the curb. Tuesday we host WVU which is now a "must win" game for us, and will likely be one for them too. Then we go to Norman. Even if we get through that gauntlet unscathed, we're still not guaranteed anything. If, however, we go 0-2 next week, we'll officially be done, and even if we go 1-1 we'll be in desperate need of miracles.

Can't say I'm surprised. Smart is a good coach, and he inherited some talented players. Took 'em half a season to get on track and are coming into form here in the 2nd half of the year. Give Smart a couple of seasons to recruit and they'll be VERY good.
Smart's previous pitch was "come play for a great up-and-coming coach" tempered by "but you'll be at a mid-major without the resources of some of the bigger schools."
Now that 2nd part disappears and is replace with "not only do you get a great up and coming coach, but you're coming into a program with limitless resources."
Makes the job easier.
