HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Welcome to 2024!
For this first ATWP post of the new year I'd thought I'd do something a little different.
Below are the TOP 25 ALL-TIME WINNINGEST PROGRAMS to lay out just who are the denizens of that realm.
POINTS OF INTEREST
•Kansas begins 2024 just 3 wins behind UK, having gained 2 wins on the Wildcats in the non-conference portion of this season's schedule. Through December 31, 2023 Kansas has not lost ground to ANY of the Top 25.
•Syracuse begins 2024 just 1 game behind Temple for 6th place. Despite some lackluster seasons in the final years of Jim Boeheim steering the ship, Syracuse still has managed to pick up better than 3 wins a season on Temple since the NCAA 2015 sanctions vacated 101 wins from Orange history. That penalty dropped the Orange from 5th place to 6th, 30 games behind the then new #5 Temple. Both still have a chance to reach the 2000 wins plateau this season (Syracuse for the 2nd time, and I like their chances better). In AY2022-23 UCLA passed both Syracuse and Temple for 5th place.
•UCLA has not had a great start this AY, but still has a chance to reach the 2000 wins level before it's over. Have to wonder if Mick Cronin is in trouble the way things are going this season?
•New Big 12 member Cincinnati has reached the 1900 wins level.
•Texas, Illinois, future Big 12 member Utah, Western Kentucky and new Big 12 member BYU all have a chance to reach 1900 wins in AY2023-24.
•Villanova is the only other team with even a remote chance of hitting 1900 wins this AY. They'd have to run the table the rest of the season and post-season to do so.
•West Virginia is in bad company so far this season, joining UCLA and Notre Dame as the only members of the Top 25 with losing records to date.
•Finally, Michigan State's stumble out of the gate has allowed 12-1 Princeton to tie the Spartans in wins but pass them for 23rd place based on the Tigers better historical winning percentage. #25 UConn trails both programs by 8 wins, 1819 to 1811, as the new year begins.

NCAAT: NCAA Tournament Championships
NOTES
1. The table reflects the 2023 NCAA IRP vacating of 15 wins from the KANSAS 2017-18 season from those 20 games in which retroactively declared ineligible Silvio De Sousa played.
2. The table shows the official NCAA record for Syracuse, which excludes the 101 wins the NCAA vacated in 2015.
If those wins had not been vacated Syracuse would be #5 with almost 2100 wins.
3. Connecticut, which played its first season in 1901, is included in this table because it is the only program with 4 or more NCAA Tournament titles not in the Top 10. In the Top 10 only KU (1899), Temple (1895) and Notre Dame (1897) began playing earlier, and only KU, Temple, Syracuse and Indiana - and #24 Princeton as well - have played more seasons.
As always, please let me know if you have any questions or spot any errors, and thanks in advance!
AY2023-24 KU OBJECTIVES
21/64: Win KU's 21st Big 12 title in 28 Big 12 seasons, and NCAA best 64th conference title in program history.
12/29: Looking for KU's 12th Big 12 Tournament title, and 29th overall conference tournament title
(currently 11 Big 12 titles + 4 Big 8 postseason titles 1977-96 + 13 Big 6/7/8 Holiday Tournament titles 1947 to 1979).
and
5/7: NCAA & total National Championships to go with their COVID-19 Season Final 2020 Consensus #1 ranking.*
