Hunter with another double/double (31 points. 11 rebounds)
But BIG news
McCullar with the first BACK TO BACK TRIPLE DOUBLE in modern KU HISTORY
("modern" because apparently no one knows for sure how many times Wilt might have accomplished the feat. I know he did at least once).
v UK 12 points, 10 Rebounds, 10 Assists
v Chaminade 22 points 11 rebounds 10 assists
Kevin came back to show the NBA scouts that he had the right stuff.
Making triple doubles sure doesn't hurt!

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
Amazing accomplishment for McCullar. Granted, he got a little bit lucky by having Chaminade on the scheudle, but it's easy to say that Kentucky offset any relative relief that Chaminade provided.
3 point shooting was BAD last night. Furphy and Timberlake combined for an 0-6 outing from beyond the line. NOT GOOD.
Nevertheless, it seemed like the strategy was to just let Hunter carry the game, and he and McCullar did the heavy lifting for everyone, so hopefully everyone else is fresh for tonight (or at least hungry to get in the box score).
Speaking of 3 point shooting, Hunter and Michael Jankovich are both leading the team at 75% beyond the arc. So I'm thinking we start Jankovich (3/4 from 3) and Hunter (6/8 from 3) along with KJ, Dujuan and Kevin. Then just let Dujuan, Jankovich, and Hunter rain 3's on a confused Marquette team, with KJ and Kevn cleaing things up in the paint. In fact, I'd stop feeding Hunter in the paint entirely and just have him shoot 3's exclusively until he cools off from his 75% average. At 75%, Jankovich and Hunter are going to average 2.25 points every time they throw a ball in the general direction of the basket. For a guy like Hunter to averge 2.25 points per possession from the paint, you need to somehow guarantee that he'll get fouled 25% of the time and make the free throw.
This analysis is also a good reason why I'm not involved in coaching. Nevertheless, it woujld be kind of funny to see Hunter have a game where he's just chucking 3's with reckless abandon. Maybe we can do that vs. Yale for a while to see how it works out. Probably not a good idea for tonight.

NotO, I wish there was some way to add a laugh emoji to your post. LOL
I'm hoping currently that Timberlake is like Malik Newman. I wasn't impressed with Newman at all until the tourney and he went crazy. Currently I'd prefer Justin Timberlake to Nick...He can't even make a layup. Poor guy.

I'm not worried about him yet. Even experienced guys who transfer in can take a few games to find themselves. Lots of season in front of us.
