KU Women's VB team (16/4) is ranked #14 and plays KSU this weekend at home. The two games are on Friday evening at 6:30PM and Saturday at 3PM. KState is just outside the rankings and appears to be improving. Both games are on ESPN+.
We have probably the best or equal best setter in the Big12, Camryn Turner from Topeka. KU was the only team to offer her a scholarship. We have a freshman libero, Reagan Burns, who looks like she might take freshman of the year in the Big12. We also have a Graduate transfer, Regan Cooper, who is outstanding and Ayah Elnady, a Junior from Egypt. Both are outstanding outside hitters. The rest of the team is playing great as well, a mixture of transfers and players who have come thorough the system. Both the KSU games are sold out.

Good news and bad news. KU won in five sets. KSU is very good and could easily have won. The bad news, Reagan Cooper, badly hurt her right ankle. It did not look good. Don’t think she can play today and may be done for a while.

KU women beat KSU in VB in three sets today. All close games. Played without Reagan Cooper but Carolyn Bien from KC played great in her place. Now 18/4 and probably ranked close to the top 10 Monday.

I watched part of this match. KSU did a very good job on blocks. As you mentioned Carolyn Bien played great. A really nice win.

All three of my daughters played competitive VB, one at D3 college in Iowa, where she still holds the block record for the school. Thus my interest in VB. My two younger daughters won State at Bishop Seabury here in Lawrence but it was before Seabury began playing in in the State system. They won in a State wide Christian league, tournament. I now have two granddaughters playing.

The Women's VB team continues to do very well. Now ranked #17. Dropped a bit after splitting two matches on the road at ISU but should be up again after winning a tough home game with Baylor, who was ranked. They play ranked BYU on Friday. BYU is tied with the Hawks for second place in the Big 12. They then play on the road at Cincinnati and a final home game at Home against UCF. Both games are winnable. They will definitely get an NCAA invite. If we win out, we should play the first two rounds of the tournament at home. May do so even with one more loss. BTW, Reagan Cooper is back from her ankle injury and played great last evening.

KUAthletics.com: No. 17 Kansas Takes Down No. 13 BYU in Provo

Only the eighth BYU loss at home in the last nine seasons (in 133 matches).

Great game last night. BYU is an excellent team but KU was better on the night. Having Cooper back really helped. Elnady played one of her best games. KU serving was excellent. The BYU coach kind of blew it at the end using up her challenges. If we win out, I think we can almost guarantee we will host the first two round of the tournament. I think we will be in the top 15 on Monday. We now play Cincinnati on the road, a very winnable game and the final against UCF, who runs hot and cold.
