I read so much on forums about the "Traditional" circus font on KU jerseys (so many want to go back to the "old" look). I grew up around KU Basketball starting in the early 70's and my recollection is that the Circus Font started with Danny Manning's teams and Coach Brown. Prior to that it was block lettering. Roy's teams started with the same font but it gradually morphed over the years so it was similar but the "circus" aspect slowly went away.
This was spurred on my the new football uni they're rolling out for the Illini game this week where they brought the Circus font back..Curious as the your thoughts on this?

I prefer the font that was on the blue jerseys they wore in their first game. I do like that KANSAS is displayed in large letters on both jerseys.

Honestly, I never look that closely at the fonts, but the blue numbers against the black shirt look awesome. I think it’s great the players brought the idea of black jerseys to the coaches, and made it happen. It supports the ideals of Liepold and his staff that the players aren’t just there to follow and do what they’re told. It seems refreshing.
USAF, not pointed at you at all, but I saw other comments in the LJW hammering the jerseys and suggesting we stay with tradition. That just isn’t what the players want, and I for one enjoy seeing different looks.
But I’ll leave the font discussion to others.

My point is the "younger" crowd seems fixated that the circus font IS traditional whereas I think it existed for a relatively brief time and was one of many, but not necessarily THE font. It's like a teeny bopper of today claiming that the Foo Fighters are the best band ever having never even heard (or heard of) the Beatles.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
First of all, not hearing of the Beatles would be equivalent to not hearing of Mozart or Beethoven. In a list of travesties in our society, not knowing about the Beatles has to be near the top of the list. As for the unis, I like what I saw of the black unis. But I like the traditional unis as well. But really I am a lot more concerned about how well they play rather than what they are wearing. But it’s kind of cool to have cool unis. I lean strongly into tradition so any newfangled ideas I have to counsel myself to not immediately reject them. After having done that I give the new unis a thumbs up. Although I struggle with the “meaner looking” Jayhawk.

Fun history on the evolution of the Jayhawk mascot. The tougher time were (The Great War, the depression, WWII, the meaner it got. Post WWII lightened up a great deal. Just don't use the original "stick legs"!!!!
