It’s all over but the official announcement - UA, ASU and UU make it the BIG 12+4. UA applied and was unanimously accepted yesterday. ASU and UU applied and were unanimously accepted just minutes ago.

Your new Big 12 (16?) conference:
University of Arizona (UA)
Arizona State University (ASU)
Baylor University (BU)
Brigham Young University (BYU)
University of Central Florida (UCF)
University of Cincinnati (UC)
University of Colorado (CU)
University of Houston (UH)
Iowa State University (ISU)
University of Kansas (KU)
Kansas State University (KSU)
Oklahoma State University (OSU)
Texas Christian University (TCU)
Texas Tech University (TT)
University of Utah (UU)
West Virginia University (WVU)
I’ve read somewhere that when the Big 12 was originally formed they also copyrighted Bigs 13, 14, 15 and 16.
Will the conference adapt its name or continue with the Big 12 brand name?

I jokingly side a long time ago we should adopt the name of the Big X where X is a variable. That way it's never wrong no matter the number of schools.

This is awesome actually! I was really happy to get Colorado back but adding Arizona, ASU and Utah is huge! It's silly but I'd love to get Nebraska back. My father was from there and it was always nice to have them in the conference. Either way, this is exciting! Texas and OU who?...I do say that in jest. I will actually miss having OU for sure in the conference. Just won't seem right for a long time.

What say ye?
BIG 12/16 (or some new name)
Proposed Pods / Division*/Conference
*If they even use divisions. I see no reason to use them. But to cover the bases, here’s mine if the conference goes to them
NW DIVISION
B16 North pod
CU
ISU
KU
KSU
B16 West pod
UA
ASU
BYU
UU
SE DIVISION
B16 South pod
BAY
OSU
TTU
TCU
B16 East pod
CIN
UCF
UH
WVU
Regionally I like this breakout.
Emotionally I would miss playing our old Big 8/12 opponent Cowboys every year in football and H&A come hoops time. We could swap CU in the North pod with OSU in the south pod to keep the original Big 8 members who (regardless of reason) never left the conference together, but I think the regional fits and the economy of the scheduling as modeled should lead to overriding such emotions.
B12/16 MEMBER SCHEDULING
FOOTBALL (9 game Conference seasons)REPEAT CYCLE EVERY 2 YEARS SO PLAY EVERY “OTHER POD” TEAM H&A EVERY 4 YEARS
TOP 2 BEST RECORDS PLAY IN CONFERENCE TITLE GAME
BASKETBALL
(18 game seasons)
6 games v 3 Pod Teams Home & Away
12 games one game per each member of other pods, alternating H&A from year to year.
Team with best record wins regular season title and 1 seed in conference tournament. Ties are considered co-champions, with conference tournament seeding decided by tiebreakers.

I like this idea, but because X
is also widely recognized as the Roman numeral 10, I would make it the
Big N
where N is the variable to be determined by future events.
Whoa, I actually LIKE this!
You and I should get together to submit the proposal to Yormark and the Chancellors/Presidents!
Let’s see, how would others “fill in the blank” as it were?
Big Now?
Big New?
Big Nasty?
Big Notional? (It’s always changing!)
Big National? (Stanford makes us coast to coast if the unlikely ever happened!)
Ideas are hereby solicited!
Mahalo!
