I’m told UK fans are salivating at the possibility of Squid picking up one or two players from the WVU situation.

As of this morning (Monday 2023-06-26 0830 CT):

With the WVU hiring of assistant coach Josh Eilert as their interim head coach for AY2023-24 while a full scale head coach search for AY2024-25 and beyond is properly executed (link): Eilert was a 2004 KState grad, MBB walk-on AY2002-04.

Former Arizona PG Kerr Kriisa has withdraw from the portal, will stay in Morgantown (link)

WVU PG Joe Toussaint is in the portal, but has not ruled out returning to WVU. He has visits set up with KState and Texas Tech. Note that with the new, stricter transfer portal rules the former Iowa Hawkeye and WVU Mountaineer will have to get a waiver to play immediately should he choose to actually transfer, and now a change in head coach is specifically noted as *not* being a valid reason to transfer for anyone who has already transferred before. WVU F Tre Mitchell was the first to enter the transfer portal after the resignation of Huggins, and I find no update on his intentions since the hiring of Eilert. As with Toussaint, the new, stricter transfer portal rules mean the former UMASS and Texas player will have to get a waiver to play immediately should he choose to actually transfer. Apparently UK is after him. I really hope Eilert can keep him.

G RaeQuan Battle, C Jesse Edwards and G Jose Perez were waiting until a new coach was hired to decide on whether or not to stay, but nothing ihas been reported yet on their plans since the announcement of Eilert's hiring.
