I spent some time last night looking over various recent (updated at least once since the Combine began) mock drafts that included both rounds (to be honest I did not find many) and from what I saw ESPN with KMc at 54 was the most generous. The handful of others I looked at did not list him at all.
If his NIL opportunity for his last ride as a student spending another season with a Hall of Fame coach is over the G League max of up to $450K a year? Nice decision to have to make.
His call, of course, but I think I would rather be a student one more year and take another shot at an NC if the money was at least as good and it gave me a chance to improve my draft stock for next year as Ochai and Jalen did. That's one of the big reasons Kevin came to KU in the first place, and with the lineup Self has put into place, his chances would in my opinion be that much better NEXT time around.
C: big upgrade with HD 2nd Team AA. KJ and Braun backup
PG: same superior quality, plus two other very, very good PGs, one experienced, one freshman, when DH is resting
F: ? with KJ replacing AA and B12 POY JWil, but KJ has surprised us every year, and Marcus Adams Jr shows promise. SO for now not as good, but too many ??? to say if they can come close to carrying their weight.
2&3 G: Gradey hard to replace, but Morris, Timberlake, McCullar and freshman Jackson look to be soooo good as a group rotating in and out.
And imagine actually having a BENCH that can do something when they hit the floor.
Bill (so far) still has one more ride to offer to try to get one more solid piece willing to do solid bench work when he enters the game. And who's to say who Bill will attract with a 1 year "shoot for the stars" pitch like he and JWil used on Kevin this time last year?
Ah, dream, got to have one to have it come true...
Bottom line for me, I want Kevin to make the right decision for himself.
I'm hoping he thinks it is to come back for the reasons stated above.
For this time of this recruiting season, in my book only Dickinson coming to Lawrence would top Kevin returning for his truly final season.

"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
There are certainly plenty of reasons for him to come back. NIL kind of moves the money decision back in our favor..NIL would be more than G-league and is a lock, meanwhile it's up in the air what he'd make in the G-League, or overseas.
The article I'm sure lots of us saw made one good point in favor of him leaving: he's going to be 25 and the NBA is currently taking in 19 year olds, so he's technically "a little old". Father time waits for nobody, and the NBA like their "projects" on the young side, so his timing might be up if he waits.
Obvously I want what's best for him and his future. Seems like he comes from a stable family of smart folks, and Kevin seems to have a good head on his shoulders, so i'm confident he'll make good choices.
Funny side story: I read somewhere about Adidas being able to guarantee somebody (maybe Dickenson) a particular dollar amount to sign. Funny how a couple years ago that would have been a death penalty worthy admission. Now it's openly part of the process.
