"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
Because it can be confusing, here's a
SUMMATION
on how the "Super Senior extra year" of eligibility has been applied
1. Per NCAA decision any Student-Athlete who was eligible to participate in 2019-20 Spring, 2020-21 Fall, or 2020-21 Winter sports was/is eligible for an extra "Super Senior" season of athletic eligibility (5 years to play 4 seasons effectively became 6 to play 5). In Division 1 and 2, those who started their college careers 2020-21 Spring and beyond are not eligible for “Super Senior” status; the usual “5 to play 4” rule applies from then onward.
2. FOR AY2020-21 and AY2021-22 – Seniors that would have graduated in any of the eligible periods noted in 1 above did not count against program scholarship limits for their school in their “Super Senior” year as long as they finished at the same school (Hiya, Mitch Lightfoot and Chris Teahan, and Thanks For The Memories!). Those that transferred to another school for their Super Senior season counted against that school’s program limits.
3. FOR AY2022-23 through AY2025-26 – those “aging” into Super Senior status (they were extension eligible student-athletes IAW 1 above, but were not then seniors) will count against program scholarships. Barring unusual circumstances, AY2025-26 will be the last AY for any D1 athlete who started their career as late as 2020-21 Winter to compete as a "Super Senior".

NB: I have spent entirely too much time today searching the board and the Internet for links to sources that specifically document the NCAA guidance regarding the above. No luck on such specific links, but the summation provided above is the case to the best of my knowledge. If anyone has any links to sources that do document the "don't count/count" status, please post them. Thanks.
