"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
With the NCAA case looking like it may finally be coming to an end, the Prestons are looking for a few more moments in the media before they fade to insignificance.
Fact: wiretap has mom and adidas guy talking about KU folks not knowing.
And IIRC, mom testified to same in the FBI case, which was part of the reason KU was labeled a “victim” in the results.
Now we know Self & the coaches were not totally oblivious to the reality of what may have been happening behind the scenes, but that is a far cry from having specific knowledge of specific events — especially when wiretap and subsequent court testimony indicate they did not.
Essentially Preston is calling his mom a liar…
As I wrote above, one last hurrah in the public eye, then back to oblivion for the family.

I read this earlier this AM. I think Preston just comes across salty. I agree that they may have known some stuff was going on but not exactly what was happening. Preston makes it sound like Self orchestrated it or whatever. He never even played a single game at KU. That's not the actions of a coach who wants to get a player and any cost.
Oh well, hopefully this all goes away soon.

The same Billy Preston whose car was registered to his grandmother - who had died several years prior. And whose mother suggested to the Adidas guy that they fake a personal relationship to create an exception to the pay for play prohibitions. The adidas guy said his actual wife wouldn’t approve of that.
He was a kid looking for a handout. Got one. Got caught. And paid the price.
Also a kid who flamed out as a player, but very likely blames Bill Self for derailing what would otherwise have been a hall of fame NBA career.
Laugh at him, and move on.
