If the score holds up, UCONN has 5 NCAAT in 25 years, seriously what the heck. The 1999 squad faced a real challenge with Duke. The other titles were against relative Ga Tech, Butler, UK ( freshman) and SDSU. Congrats to them on being darn fortunate in the tourney and seizing the moment.

Give credit where due (while wishing it was to KU )…
UConn has now won the title 5 of the 6 times it has made the FF, and is 5-0 in NCGs.
1999 beat Ohio State FF, Duke NCG*
2004 beat Duke FF, Ga Tech NCG*
2009 lost to Michigan St FF*
2011 beat UK FF, Butler NCG*
2014 beat Florida FF, UK NCG^
2023 beat Miami FF, SDSU°
* Jim Calhoun, 3 NC in 4 FF
^ Kevin Ollie, 1 NC in 1 FF (w/Calhoun seniors & juniors carrying the team)
° Dan Hurley, 1 NC in 1 FF
5 NCs in 6 FF, 5-0 NCG

5 - UK
3 - KU, UNC, UK, UConn
2 - UCLA, Indiana, Villanova
Is UConn a Johnny come lately?
Absolutely. 1999-2023 is just the last 25 seasons (with just 24 NCAATs thanks to COVID-19).
Are they a “blue blood”?
Not in the traditional sense, but it’s hard to argue they don’t belong in a 21st Century blue blood listing. Especially if Dan Hurley can keep getting them to Final Fours.
Should Villanova be considered a blue blood? Without Jay Wright, I’d have to say wait and see.
Should UCLA and Indiana still be considered blue bloods? Neither has won a title in decades (IU 1987, UCLA 1995), but both are still among the top all-time winningest programs as well as the top title winners.
Do we look back at 2020 with a sigh of sadness because that Jayhawk squad didn’t get their shot to add to KU glory?
Almost every bloody day.

HE - UCONN is the master of seizing their opportunities. Wish Hawks had their BB karma instead of the many heartbreaking losses in NCAAT game.

All I can think of is the show "The Gilded Age" where the folks that came to America already rich looked down on those that took advantage of the then-recent industrial revolution to get rich (oil, trains, steel). The "Nouveau Rich" as it were. That would be UCONN, where KU, UK are the old rich. I think UCONN has to be considered a Blue Blood now, Nouveau or otherwise.
