San Diego St beats Alabama
And
Miami beats Houston
to eliminate the final 1 seeds.

Same deal as 2011 FF in Houston. Only one #1 (UNC) there in 2016.
Am surprised no one noted the favor that Arkansas did KU, avoiding a blowout at the hands of UCONN.

A 1 seed has made the Final Four every year since seeding began (1979) except 1980, 2006 and 2011. Only five times since 1979 have three or more No. 1 seeds made the Final Four: 1993, 1997, 1999, 2008 and 2015

Only 2008 did all 4 make it: KU, Memphis, UNC and UCLA

FWIW I read (have not researched myself) that this is the first time since seeding began in 1979 that no 1 seeds made the Regional Finals (Elite 8 if you prefer).

Well, we know all too well that 2011 wasn't one of those times. I may forget a lot of things, but doubt the tunnel dust-up before the SA regional final vs VCU will be one of them. Assuming UCONN beats Gonzaga (oh yes, thanks dear networks for showing today's games on TBS and not CBS), i won't bet against the same NC (UCONN) as in 2011. Good game, but I bought FF tix to see KU win it all.

I recall 2011 well (if not sadly). KU was the last #1 seed standing when the VCU game began. I distinctly remember thinking this was our year to win it all again since the major competition had been taken out by others...then we laid that stinky rotten egg against VCU. Couldn't hit crap and couldn't stop Shaka and his team. That was as disappointed as I think I've ever been with a tournament exit. Not as shocked perhaps as going out against the "Killer B's" or Northern Iowa, but those were early enough in the tournament that I was not yet as certain we had it "in the bag" (as it were) as we did that Sunday in 2011.
