I despise Texas and have one friend who went there that literally never talks about sports UNTIL KU loses a basketball game (against anybody) which is usually when he chooses to reach out.
Hate the KSU fans, but am surprised that I like the new coach (which is even more shocking because he's a Scot Drew guy). His accomplisments were amazing this year, but it was also an amazing use of the transfer portal. Between the portal and NIL money, I think that it's going to be quite possible for programs to "buy" a team rather than build one. Happy to see the transfer rules getting a little more strict.
But the ONE thing that impressed me most this year was when KU was headed to Manhattan and the new coach publicly admonished his fans for their negativity. He basically said that they should spend more time SUPPORTING thier own players rather than ragging on KU. He essentially said that by focusing on tearing down KU rather than believing in their own players that KSU fans were essentially acknowedging that they're a 2nd tier program compared to KU.
Hard to hate on a guy who preaches positivity. Hope it lasts long enough to catch on with their fans, but I imagine that KSU's veternary school's experiments with creating a flying pig has a better chance of success.

As for Texas, I'd be somewhat less upset if they succeeded but the thought of them winning while planning their conference exit doesn't feel right.
UCONN already has 4 NCs and I'd hate for them to pass KU. Miami winning would save the ACC too much face after a terrible conference showing this year (although I have to admit I like Coach Larrañaga)
My first choice would be for a total upstart to win (Go FAU, Princeton, Creighton!!!) but given the unlikelihood of that I guess Xavier or Gonzaga would be my hope.

Yeah, I’d like that!
Well, Thursday was almost a shutout for me.
Here’s hoping Friday’s games turn out better!
As to KState…
When I came to KU as a junior in 1980 (after 6 years on active duty, which was after my first two years of college) I was so naive about college fandom. I always thought the “good ol’ college try” and actual “collegiality” were the norm and not the rarity. My first encounter with a KState fan (in a non-sports forum, to boot) awakened me to the harsh bitterness that they harbored against all things Jayhawk. Time banished the idea that she (yes, she) was not only not an anomaly but actually the norm for the vast majority of KState fans I encountered in my subsequent existence. It saddens me to admit this acceptance on my part. I would love for the relationship to be one of rooting for the other when facing anyone else, Kansans against all comers, but too many KStaters openly rooting for KU opponents at every opportunity has convinced me that will never happen in my lifetime.
I wish Jerome Tang success in his endeavors to change the nature of their fans, but the inbred bitterness — even after Bill Snyder rescued them from football poverty — is going to take time to root out, if ever. Certainly doubt it will happen in my remaining lifetime.
So I really do hope that FAU shocks the kitty litter outta them on Saturday.
Oh, and that the Zags send UConn home as well.
With that, if all my preferences for Friday were to play out, I’d be as happy as I could be with what’s left of this KU-less final four.
No…
UCLA (11)
UK (8 )
UNC (6)
Duke (5)
Indiana (5)
Villanova (3)
Yep, love to see Gonzaga (0), Xavier (0) and FAU (0) win to add …
UConn (4)
KState (0)
tu (0)
… to that list.

Halfway thru Friday, so far, so good!
THANK YOU,
AZTECS
&
HURRICANES!
Now…
Go, PRINCETON!
But ESPECIALLY
GO XAVIER!
If only one of the two can come through,
Musketeers are the ones I’d choose!
Fingers crossed!!!
