"When I was a freshman, I remember Coach Naismith telling us how important it was to play good defense." - Mitch Lightfoot
OH NO! That's terrible. Hoping and praying for a quick recovery, but obviously his long term health is the most important issue.
Seems like the 2023 Big 12 Tournament is the "battle of the assistants". First you have the Texas season-long issue. Next you get Tech. Then TCU, and now Self. That's almost half the conference playing with an interim or assitant at the helm.
Don't want to get too far out over my skis, but this could obvously extend into the NCAA tournament as well. But like I said, I'd rather write off this year and get SEVERAL more years out of a healthy Self (and then give him many MORE years in retirement) than worry about the short term.
Thinking that this might motivate the team to dig a little deeper.

No idea how valid, but someone supposedly close has revealed it was a minor heart attack, Self had two stents implanted last night, is recovering well and may… I repeat, “may”… return to the bench next week.
Stay tuned…

Look, I'd love for him to be back next week, but not at the risk of his health. Selfishly, I want him back today, and I'm sure that he wants to get back as soon as he can as well. But I'd MUCH rather whine about our bad luck this year when he comes back to celebrate the 50th anneversary of his first NC in 2058 than to come back too soon.
I'm sure everyone agrees with this...just pointing out the obvious.

So…If a Mountaineer were to get a win over a Jayhawk and there was no Self there to see it, would a HuggieBear still get 25K??

Get well HCBS!!! You never want anyone to get ill or injured. I believe coach Huggins had, if indeed minor heart attack, similar issues in the past. Hopefully he can tell HCBS, his friend, take it easy.
