Hell of a nice win. Especially because there were things that exhibited a high ceiling. (Which has been missing)

Namely, really solid bench play out of Joe, Udeh, MJ…

And Harris being super aggressive and high energy - and attacking as a scoring option along with his great distribution and D. He needed a fire lit under him, and he brought it.

Great win! :)

We needed an off night by JW to make the others step up.

I thought our team defense and rebounding early on set the tone, and created fast break points. Took TX out of their rhythm and they never got it back.

Also loved the TX guy jawing with JW. We went 6-0 right after that and the game was essentially over.

Good to see some of the bench guys break through. Nevertheless fouling guys at the end nearly allowed Texas to get back into it. Thankfully it worked out.

After the TCU and ISU losses, I took mini-hiatuses from the team....didn't check scores, didn't read anything, just put it out of my mind as it was a little depressing.

Now, we're 1 game back and still very much "in it", albeit with very little margin of error. I also don't think it's a stretch to think that there might be a 2 or even 3 or 4 place tie for the championship this year. I have noticed that even after a totally pathetic loss at ISU, our place in the polls and computer rankings hasn't been hurt very badly. Not sure that any team NOT in the Big 12 this year could lose 4 of their last 5 and still be in the top 10.

The optimist in me points toward a few positives going forward:
1.) we won last night and several bench guys took big steps.
2.) we have 5 days off before our next game: some time to get healthy and get some serious coaching done.
3.) our next game is at OU, and according to the computers, this is the easiest road game we could have in the conference right now.

So my hope is that we all wake up on Super Bowl Sunday ready to root for the Chiefs without any grey clouds about KU basketball hanging over our heads.

As for the pessimist in me who occupies the other half of my brain, I'll keep his thoughts and comments confidential for the moment and savor last night's win.

I heard a stat that KU had never lost a Big Monday game at home. Now 36 and 0 or 40 and 0. Don't know for sure which one is correct.

The bench guys were great.

And I’d like to remind everyone that it wasn’t a bench guy committing the boneheaded late fouls that kept the door open for Texas at the end. (Still was a freshman, but come on, Gradey, so great in everything else last night then those fouls…)

Amen. I was alike Gradey, what are you doing. Alas, teaching moments for HCBS. Hopefully, that was Jalen’s off night for the season, but also hope the team sees that they can win without Jalen scoring.
