“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”
1936 inscription on the portrait of Dr. Naismith, displayed above Phog Allen's office desk at KU.
Let's hope the present trend stops in about an hour, when KU tips.
So far, Iowa State went down at Texas A&M, West Virginia got thrashed by a mediocre Florida team, and even OU is behind at the half against LSU.
We need OU to come back strong and for KU and Baylor to kick butt in the last games to turn this tide around. Otherwise, the Big 12 is going to look like the pretender, overrated conference (sans KU) it's been in the past.

OU won with Hield going off in Baton Rouge. Baylor won a game they obviously should have (but were losing at one point). And KU held serve at home.
So it wound up Big 12 7, SEC 3...with ISU losing against a tough A&M team and WVU getting manhandled in head-shaking fashion at the hands of the Gators.
I hope Coach Self and the staff study the film on how to thoroughly dismantle WVU, because it can be done. That game in Morgantown was a farce, and we should kill them in Allen if we come into it with the better game plan and execute it.
Nice day for the Big 12, generally speaking.

"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
It was a great example of the importance of home court advantage.
HOME TEAMS - 8
VISITORS - 2 (OU @LSU, OSU @Auburn)
#14 ISU losing at #5 TAMU was not an unexpected result, the Clones have never been a solid road team, and the teams played to their rankings.
Tech took Arkansas to OT before losing there.
So, all in all, only the WVU road loss was particularly egregious. And that should be encouraging to Big 12 teams that will be hosting them in the future.

Typical Huggy Bear move to suspend Jonathon Holton their key player on D and offensive rebounder extreme for this game. It does not hurt WVU much just makes the big XII look bad.

Thanks for the info. Why the suspension?
Even with that, Florida smoking them by 17 is encouraging to the rest of the Big 12 teams that still have to host them.

RKCKJHK!!!
Any wonder why the rest of the country cries foul when we get 6 teams in the tourney every year?
The WVU formula is not that difficult. Florida just reminded eveyone...if you can make three good passes, you get dunks and layups against a press. Self did it against a Mike Anderson UAB team and put up a 100.

From the ESPN article about the game.
MISSING MEN
West Virginia played without starting forward Jonathan Holton, who was suspended indefinitely Thursday for an undisclosed violation of team rules. Huggins said there was no timetable for his return.
I think he will be back at least when they play KU.
