"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"

The story explains it all … except for how to easily log on if you had an account and were logged out.
I’m still looking into things, some of it is confusing (e.g., why was a caricature of my father-in-law set up as my avatar when I’ve always used my Medical Service Corps caduceus as my avatar there?). I’ll have more later once I get settled …

From the article: "Yes, we’ll still have a comments section. And, yeah, you’ll need to sign up again."
Sounds like they deleted all old accounts.
At least the new site doesn't randomly switch to mobile mode while I'm browsing from my desktop computer. It was so annoying to have to click on the menu and select "Desktop site".

I thought they deleted the old accounts as well when I read that. But when I first went to try out the commenting feature what popped up was my real name, an avatar using a caricature of my father-in-law that I had stored both in my Facebook account and on my PC, all apparently tied in to disqus, com, the platform they are using to power their comments section. I haven't had a chance to mess around with it anymore as of yet, so still not sure what is going on there. It is clear I need to clean up some stuff with disqus.
And HALLELUJAH, BROTHERS & SISTERS! on the demise of the mobile mode!
