He also did the '08 NC game, which turned out to be his last. I liked him myself, and thought he brought serious analysis chops to every game. I recall in the KU-UNC semifinal when the Hawks ran out to that HUGE lead, BP called the game as over before halftime. That almost bit him in the butt when UNC make that huge run, but luckily they ran out of gas and KU pulled away.
I've posted this before, but the announcing team are also marketers and try keep the audience engaged and therefore the sponsors happy. This usually means making upsets and/or comebacks appear likely. Since KU is usually the favored team, and usually has the lead in games, the upset/comeback narrative would therefore favors KU's opponent. It's not a personal attack on KU, it's marketing, and it's their job.
