It seems we're all in a kind of fatalistic funk right now. We don't know what to expect. There're reasons to be optimistic and reasons to be pessimistic. If we lose, it seems reasonable to expect that a real nosedive will ensue. If we win, but by the skin of our teeth, it'll be nice, but not earth shaking. Winning big would have the biggest impact, I think, and we could get right back in the race.

There will be plenty of hype, Game Day, notwithstanding. I heard some sort of attention is going to be made to the original rules. Every attendee will be given a free tee, Crimson, Blue, or White, arranged in some sort of pattern to enhance a 360 degree interactive photo. Surely, we'll break the decibel level record... I'll be there even though I had back surgery only 3 weeks ago.

Good grief, I could sit at my desk all day after surgery.....going to MECCA even if our beloved Hawks were to play the "little sisters of the poor all-stars" instead of The Squid and his Kenyucky Kittens? No way, I'd be screaming and jumping (sorta) and singing and waving wheat (and of course the tear shedding at the Anthem, Alma Mater, and Rock Chalk Chant.....and the "Video"... )

I'd need medical clearance!

It's fear. We can all surmise that the season is gone, that Self is insane, that Hunter has been excommunicated, that the assistants all are afraid to discuss the emperor's new clothes, but none of actually want the season to enter a true 'free fall.' We're playing the true 'high profile' game tonight, against the enemy, led by the cephalopod version of Valdemort, and we are all afraid that we'll get skunked. In our heads, we're all saying "let's not jinx the Hawks," so we are quiet. Our stomachs are not, but our metaphorical mouths are. Fingers don't type when the heart is elsewhere, so the lull. The game should be fun, and for some reason I'm optimistic. The players must know how stressed the Jayhawk nation is, and I think they'll play a great game tonight. Will it matter? Difficult to say, but we'll know a lot more after our next road game. Tonight is the turning point for the team. A bad performance, and a loss, essentially crushes us and them, and pretty much finishes our hope for a good run. A win, even a less than impressive win, will be impressive because of our opponent, and will (hopefully!) spur the team and the coach on to a huge and hugely needed run to the NCAAs.

High profile game, the Rules being presented at half, Game Day crew in town.

I was at the Missouri game for the 100th year of KU basketball , Dean Smith back in Allen, the 52 championship team there too. We had a great second half and refused to lose.

We don't lose these type of games.
