Barring any delayed announcements (apparently the school has 48 hours to sign off on an entry), it’s now down to seeing if JW and/or CB opt to return.
If both leave, KU has 2 open scholarships, if both return none.
June 1: their last day to decide to return

JayhawkSlant.com - Shay: Quick Thoughts - CHRISTIAN BRAUN, JALEN WILSON, AND KYLE CUFFE FROM BARNSTORMING EVENT (members only article access)
1. Kyle Cuffe joins KJ Adams on record as being back next year. No Jayhawks in the transfer portal as of late Sunday afternoon (or as of this post today - HE)
2. Christian Braun is working out and enjoying the time spent with teammates on the barnstorming tour. Draft prep -- putting together a list of things to work on ( e.g., release point and shooting in general). Not sure he will attend combine (remember that the Combine is an invitation only event - HE). Open-minded about the process. Will gladly return to KU if that looks to be the right move this year. (Shay expects him to stay in the draft - HE). Plans to work out in Santa Barbara, CA.
3.Jalen Wilson - Flew in for the Barnstorming session. Working out in Dallas with his trainer (Tim Martin) and a few other guys (e.g., Gonzaga's Drew Timme). Also working on his shooting during the sessions. Going through the process, hearing what he needs to hear. Has heard nothing yet about where he could be picked. Will probably make his final decision a couple of days before the June 1 deadline.
Also not sure if he will participate in the NBA Combine if invited. He can definitely see himself returning to Kansas. Shay thinks JWil is looking for as much feedback as possible with the eye to return to work on those aspects of his game as Ochai did last year..
Wilson, unlike Braun, has watched the title game against UNC (tried not to watch the first half). Wilson said that at the half, David McCormack was the guy that played Danny Manning (my applying my memories of the 1988 NC game, where from the beginning Danny -- against Larry Brown's game plan -- convinced his teammates that they could run with and beat OU - HE),gathering everybody together to prepare them to win in the second half. (More argument for DAVE to have his jersey in The Rafters IMO! - HE)

Obviously so much can change (and likely will), but IF it remains, I'd like appreciate that stability/easy(ier) transition into next season.
P.S. Hope I didn't jinx it

I'm assuming that means if a player chose to transfer over the next couple of weeks or months, they'd have to sit out the year (w/o losing eligibility, of course)...basically like it always was before the new transfer portal set up. Am I correct there?

Yes, but...
Don’t you hate replies that start “yes, but...?”
Seriously... you are correct, but the student-athlete can always petition for a waiver to be allowed to play right away if he or she has a good reason for that late change. Family issues, a late coaching change, etc. I’m sure there are others the NCAA would consider.
Not asked, but in the same “ballpark” — only the first timely entry into the transfer portal comes with immediate eligibility at the new school. For a second transfer the old “sit a year” rule applies — but again, the student-athlete can request a waiver.
Think Tristan Enaruna. This time a year ago he left KU and ended up at ISU. This year he transferred again. Will he be able to play right away at his new home - Cleveland St IIRC? I am assuming he has applied for a waiver, but do not know.

June 1: their last day to decide to return
Matt Tait today on the real deadline for transfers out.
KUSports.com - Tait: The 2022 transfer portal deadline has arrived but new names could pop up through Tuesday
Wednesday is the day we’ll know for sure.
Early entrants have until June 1 to withdraw their names from the 2022 NBA draft pool if they want to return to school.
The NBA hosts the annual “invitation only” pre-draft combine in Chicago May 16-22.
Players who do not receive a combine invite typically are not getting drafted.
Both Christian and Jalen have said they do not know if they will participate in the combine if they are invited. If they do not, they would not be the first invitees to decline.
As of today, if they stay in the NBA draft and leave two scholarships available for KU, the most notable names in the transfer portal worth tracking for the KU men's program remain Iowa State guard Tyrese Hunter, Missouri State guard Isiaih Mosley and Texas Tech guard Kevin McCullar Jr.
