Class act, all the way.
Best of luck, Ochai!
As I wrap this up, it occurs to me there’s one group I forgot to address. To the future players who will wear the crimson and blue: Get ready for the ride of your life. We may have set the standard this year, but it’s on you now to solidify it, carry it forward and take it to the next level. The tradition and culture at KU is unlike anywhere else, and it’s your responsibility to live up to it. I’m so excited to watch your journeys unfold. And why not win another national championship next year? Come with that same mindset we had this year to win at all costs — and never regret a thing.

I strongly recommend that everyone read Ochai's full letter to the KU faithful. A terrific read! Like HE said, OA is true class act.

“The difference between stupidity and genius is that genius has its limits”. Albert Einstein
It is because of young men and women like Ochai that I became a professor and loved every minute of my 45 years of teaching and doing research at KU. It is the impact one makes in the lives of others that is important in life.

Watching Ochai grow from, "maybe he can contribute" to consensus All American has been incredible.
Where else do you have anything like his and the similar journeys of Frank and Devonte in a decade?

1. Starts with an excellent eye for raw talent *and* mindset (mining the tough kid X-factor).
2. Development of that talent takes them to their personal bests.
The program's unparalleled place in history, a still coaching Hall of Fame coach, the program's high success rate in both competing on the court and in getting players into professional careers, and the documented developmental success that has led to that winning and placement -- seriously, unless a prospective college athlete is just set on playing "at home" or has grown up as a fan of a rival team, what more can he or she ask for? (+ the NIL).

Yeah, the Ochai, Frank, and Devonte stories are fantastic, truly.
A couple of other situations I can think of that might compare to the aforementioned players are players like Damian Lillard at Weber St) and Ja Morant at Murray State.(There are plenty of others, but those two came to mind off the top of my head.) Those players developed over four years at their respective schools and I guess were under the radar that much that Power 5 team coaches just weren't able to discover them...or possible just never got to see them play in HS.
