5. Academic All-American of the Year
Roy’s Rule so Vaughn's jersey could be in the rafters
Bill’s newer Conference POY would put JV up there, too (JV 1996 Big 8 POY)
Of course this honor is a Big 12 honor for DAVE, not national, so it falls short of the existing criteria.
Regarding the FF MOP discussion.
Bacot scored 15 points in the title game.
(3-13 FG, 9-13 FT).
Bacot scored 12 points in H1, but just 2 with Dave in the game.
DAVE in: Bacot 1-5 FG, 0 FT
DAVE OUT: Bacot 2-2 FG, 6-9 FTs
With DAVE in for all but 1:05 in H2 despite foul trouble—
H2 Bacot 0-6 FG, 3-4 FTs for 3 points
MOP.
EVERY ONE of the starters made crucial contributions in both games, and yes, if any one of them hadn’t, KU *probably* does not win.
But without DAVE’s performance, KU had no chance whatsoever.
Two games.
40 Most points scored
19 Most rebounds secured
In: KU +41
Out: KU -22
MOP.
(That’s a small but SIGNIFICANT *period* after that MOP.)

But, he delivered in the final minutes of the game, and now he’s the Academic All American. I couldn’t be more HAPPY AND PROUD of him, and I’ve learned - hopefully - to remember these are just kids, and they will win and fail a lot as they grow. But they’re amazing people and Big Mac made my year.

No.
He is the Big 12 Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a conference honor, not a national one.
He may later be named to the Academic All-American team, but that is not what this announcement is about.

Repeating yourself, AZ.
The article I posted is about the Big 12 honor, not the national one.
But your duplicate post made me look to see if I had missed something else to which you were referring.
Turns out the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-American team was announced back on March 15.
Ben Vander Plas (Ohio University) was named Division 1 Academic AA of the Year.
The table below lists the Div 1 teams 1 thru 3.
Unfortunately DAVE did not make any of the teams.
But another Big 12 student-athlete did make their list.
Interesting that the Big 12 honor named DAVE in light of the previously announced CoSIDA selections.
