Don't get me wrong, I love Och, but I always thought MOP was aware for both games and I thought it was clear that DMac was that guy.

Short answer- Yeah. They got it wrong IMO.
Big, timely plays in both Final Four games… 40 points and 19 rebounds. Hard to see how he didn’t get the MOP, but who can complain with the end results.
Superior team effort in the final. So, so happy for HCBS and the team.

It was a great team effort, and everybody's input was needed for it to become a reality, but yeah -- DAVE should have received the MOP award. OreadExpress noted DAVE's 40/19 over both games. Ochai did well, too (33/5), but not as well. And I must say that I was really concerned that his free throw shooting was going to be a stumbling block in the title game. While his 3 of 4 FTs v Nova was good, his 3 of 8 v UNC was bad, leading to him hitting just 50% from the stripe for both games. That is not MOP caliber play.
It's a nitpick with everything else he did on both ends of the court, but Dave was excelling on both ends, too, and he made such huge plays when they were needed in both games. In last night's game in particular, he tied with Jalen for most points (15), and his last 4 came in the last 1:30 as he put KU ahead 70-69, then extended the lead to the final score of 72-69 with :22 to go.
Ochai being the KU AA and poster boy, he got the nod.
And he was crucial in the win.
But we know DAVE should have been the MOP, and it's a shame he did not get it. I can guarantee you that Ochai would not have minded if DAVE had been named.
I think Bill will be sure DAVE will be there with Ochai in the rafters.

Def a high class problem- which of these great kids gets the award. I do think och did so much on the floor and played so many minutes ( accounting for tired legs and missed free throws) that at the margin he was more essential than dave. We clearly don’t beat nova without him. Two addl random thoughts: this win is such a great story that whatever penalty we get may be less than it wldve been otherwise and since this is really two nattys out of the last three years I think it makes it more likely that at some point we raise the consensus no 1 2020 banner to the rafters as well. Relatedly with K and Roy both now gone bill is a so much better coach than anyone else that he cld win 5 more times over the next 15 yrs and tear up every record book on the way out. Feels like he’s just beginning. Great video on twitter shows him clearly saying ( at 11 mins, down three) we are going to win this game. He’s three steps ahead of everyone else and crushed poor hubie in that game last night.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
I have no problem with any of these guys getting MOP. In reality, the MOP of this team is the fact that the whole is better than the sum of the parts. You can make an argument and a strong one that you could say of each of the top 6 players that we do not win without their contribution. I think that is absolutely true. But which if them is the one that had the greatest impact? To my thinking that has to be David. I will attach the player rating charts and the +/- below. To me the most stark stat in all the stats of the UNC game was the +/- for David. His +/- was 16. We won by three so that means KU was outscored by 13 with David on the bench. That is incredible. No other player come close. Each of the top 6 players was essential to this win. Each brought things to the table that were critical to this win. But David's impact rose, in my opinion, to the top of the heap.
For both games of the Final Four, the Jayhawks were outscored by 22 points with David on the bench and outscored the opponents by 41 with David in the game. That is a 63 point turnaround. The next best was DaJaun with a 27 point difference. Wow. I am happy for each of these guys. But David really delivered in the Final Four.

Thanks for the numbers...the engineering part of my brain loves when numbers support the eye test.
