I was depressed at halftime and didn't believe we had a chance. There are texts on my phone that can confirm this.

Nevertheless, my wife (not a hoops fan) asked what they could do. I said, "cut it to 10 by the 15:00 timeout. Then cut it to five by the 10:00 mark"

Well, they must have been listening. I'm so beyond happy right now for KU, the students, the team, Coach Self, and all of the people here on the board.

So well earned. So well deserved. Such an incredible game.

Kudo’s to UNC. A great game. A great comeback. A great finish. Bacot was clearly suffering but manned up. We were just better but kudo’s to UNC.

At the half I really hoped and believed that if we could turn it up on defense, we could disrupt their flow and get our game going.

I'm so proud of our guys! I do feel a little badly for Mitch. He struggled tonight, although his jump hook was an important contribution. Dave stepped in and was a difference maker along with others.

The last NC we won my oldest son and I were together. Tonight we were together again. 2 for 2!!!

Thanks to everyone on this board for a great year of sharing in the joy of this incredible season!

NCAA Champions!!! Crow never tasted so good, this team didn’t give 2 daggum flips about what everyone said about them, and when out and won the NCAAT- “ how about them apples”!!! Great young men, who earned it and deserved it.

I was in the same boat...my wife claims to be a fan but doesn't really understand called me out. I got out of my funk quickly :)

"I told them at halftime, 'would you rather be down 15 with 20 left or down 9 with 2 left?'" Self said. "Because that was obviously what happened in 2008."

Damn. Tough love, Coach. Way to put it in perspective and motivate those young men for the final 20 minutes.

At halftime, Mitch told them a story about when he was at the Battle of the Bulge in WWII. Surrounded and running out of supplies, a German officer told them that if they surrendered, they'd be spared. His one word response of "nuts" has now become part of history.

Anyway, Mitch told the story, cashed his Social Security check, and we went on to win.

Yes it does.
Thank you Asteroid for all you do for every game and in between too. I truly appreciate it and your psot is a must read, and share, before every game.
Thanks much.

I think NotOstertag had the best story!

There's certainly lots of love for these Jayhawks!

In 88 my recently graduated KU friends and I all watched together in Phoenix and celebrated fervently afterwards.

In 08 same friends plus spouses and young kids all watched together in Phoenix and celebrated afterward

In 22 same friends and spouses - minus grown kids - all watched together in Phoenix, briefly celebrated then went home

Time passes. Life goes along. But the KU family connection and our love of KU hoops carries on.

Rock Chalk for life !!

Just thinking back to the entire season it is really amazing. I know a lot of people were ready to give up on Mr. McCormack early in the year and as others on this board have pointed out he was probably the Hawks MOP in the final four. I also remember a lot of people unsure of Mr. Martin's ability to blend with the team and that did not appear to be an issue in the NCAA tournament. I must say the common theme in all of this is HCBS did a marvelous job with the team this year.
