Survive and Advance

Here are some random thoughts about the game. The Jahawk starters were 1 of 11 from 3. The other team had 68 field goal attempts and the Jayhawks had 56. The Jayhawks definitely can play better than they did in that game. Let me rephrase that. The Jayhawks can definitely shoot better than they did that game because I thought they played pretty well. In the end you just need to score more points than the other team and they did that. I was very unhappy when the Friars made their run and Mr. Wilson forced the action and got called for the charge because I could see it in his body language when he caught the ball. I thought HCBS did a marvelous job with his timeouts getting the team to calm down and get back to what worked. I do not understand why Mr. Agbaji rarely gets the foul call when they hit his arm on the alley-oop.

My random thought - we either get Remy, or we get Braun and Ochai. I don’t think we get both. And frankly, in a win or go home format, I’ll take Remy. He thrives under the pressure, whereas we’ve seen some of our best “team” players fade in big games as other teams focus singularly on stopping them.

The defenses have been so far stop Ochai, and make Harris and Wilson carry the team. I don’t think we win with that, unless we have a Remy (or a Malik Newman from a few years ago).

We got absolutely ZILCH from Ochai, Mac and Mitch except for some nice blocks, and we still win a tough game. It wasn’t pretty, but Self let Remy and Wilson do their things one on one, and it worked.

HH, I agree Ochai should get more calls on alley-oops.

AZ87, I am looking forward to the game when everyone is clicking and scoring. Now that will be fun, maybe Sunday!
On Ochai he only took 8 shots so he needs more attempts. His 4 rebounds is okay, not great. His 4 blocks, 2 steals 1 TO in 37 minutes is not zilch.

Great time of year. We’re still in it when the other top seeds folded ! If everyone does come together for three more games, we’re very tough to beat. If they don’t - VIVA LA REMY !!

It will interesting going against a Miami team that has 2 former Big XII players including a former Jayhawk. As St Peters is proving there is a lot of talented teams and it really is about who is hot at the right time. Being really strong on defense and doing the fundamentals will get you only so far. In the end you need to make shots to keep winning.

I will admit that deep in the second half, I had to change the channel. David couldn't hold on to the ball and Bill kept playing him. Ochai and CB weren't hitting and I just couldn't watch so I switched to the St. Peters game, which was tied. St. Pete's is the real deal and handle the ball beautifully. I have watched part of their games since KY. Their next game ought to be reeaaal interesting.

Jmho, Ochai and CB have to start hitting for us to even have a chance to go to the FF. Remy is amazing and Jalen is right behind him but they need some help. With his current play, not sure Ochai has any chance at POY.
