I find it interesting that Houston and UA play in the sweet 16. Houston is the 5 seed and UA is the 1 seed yet Houston has better odds of getting the the elite 8 than UA according to this model. I have no idea if that is right or wrong I just find it interesting.

This is all based on the DPPI. I have Houston as the No. 2 team in the country thanks to TCU taking Arizona to the wire. Houston was the worst seeded team in this tourney in my opinion. Wisconsin was the opposite. I actually had Iowa St. over Wisconsin. Houston got punished for being in the AAC. They are a very very good team. I have them as a 52% to beat Arizona. That is pretty much statistically a toss-up but Houston is a slight favorite.

“With kindest regards to Dr. Forrest C. Allen, the father of basketball coaching, from the father of the game.”

And you're not alone - seeing similar projections for the Houston-Zona matchup (slight Houston edge) from others - e.g., 538:

Here's a question for both Don and all other RCBers: based on what you saw from Houston and Arizona yesterday (and over the full weekend and season), who would you rather KU play - who do you think we have the best chance of beating - if we advance past the Chicago S16/E8 round?
Note: feel free to employ analytics or eye test (or both, lol)...

I don’t have a “rather”between those two teams. They will both be very tough. I think Houston may be a slightly better matchup for Kansas since Arizona has some very talented bigs that could expose our interior defense.

I'd take Houston. I think AZ's size and athleticism will be tough for us, especially if Mitch is not ready for a full playing load.
The AZ guard was unstoppable, and not sure we have anyone who could slow him down.
Mac could foul out in first half against the AZ 7 footer, and we don't have much to back him up.

My eye test watching Zona last night landed me with you and Corpus. I don't want any part of that hyper-athletic Arizona team, which definitely would present major matchup issues for us. That being said, if we're fortunate enough to get that far and it happens, the guys should find some confidence in how game TCU was in fighting them.
All that being said, one game at a time, of course. Providence, then the winner of ISU-Miami.

For now I am concerned with Providence. Big East teams seem to make lots of threes against the Hawks.
If we get past them we get a team that's already shocked the world. The Clones will have a throng in Chicago and Miami has a super senior from there..
As to Houston or Zona it will probably take an even better performance than Tech in KC which was the best so far, Remy knows Zona and HCBS would have six days. At that point we are playing house money.
