I recall thinking what a bust Malik Newman was all that year, only two see him explode onto the scene at tournament time. Here's to hoping the same is happening to Remy Martin. Both were touted as scoring machines yet failed to contribute much until late...

I am going to quibble a bit. Malik played the whole year whereas Remy was injured, but I do agree that hopefully Remy can have a Malik type NCAA tourney.

One of my concerns for the NCAA tournament, especially after watching some of the other leagues, is officiating. Different crews call the game very different. I do not think any other league lets as much wrestling go on as the big XII. Hopefully the players can adjust quickly to how each game is called.

I agree that officiating is going to be key. I’ve griped all season about B12 refs, and not just in KU games.
The most glaring example of officiating impact I can think of is from the 2007 NCAA Tournament. Western regional 2 seed UCLA got to the Final Four by brutally mugging our 1 seed Jayhawks in an officiating fiasco set in what was practically a home court for them. UCLA was quickly eliminated by 2007 champ Florida in the National Semifinal because that officiating crew called them on their hatchet jobs and the Bruins never could adjust.
Here’s hoping things go better for our Jayhawks this time around!
I see KU as the Midwest team. Gonzaga as the West. AZ and whoever gets the 4th 1 seed splitting East and South.
We’ll know shortly after 5 PM CDT today!

Don'd forget JCL under some circumstances where a 3-point bucket is needed late.
My semi-professional opinion is that the Lighfoot injury will probably limit him (or knock him out) this coming weekend so match-ups will be critical. Clemence and Adams will need to step up. Zack needs to shelf the long shots and do an Aldrich, rebound and play inside. We may go small (very) and have Wilson play the 5.

Remy yesterday was a good combo of who he was at AZ St (energy and shooter/scorer) and who Self wants him to be (more controlled and defensive minded).
I think just like with Malik, Self can’t allow any player to be a free spirit during the season, but he’s willing to let players be players in the tourney when winning means everything. Self made his point during the regular season (as he always does) that Remy doesn’t play if he doesn’t toe the line, but we’re about to see the 2X Pac12 player of the year come alive in the tourney. He will be exciting to watch.
