The split screen was very tedious, very.

Gorilla & Illhawk...I agree with both of your sentiments.

I also enjoyed KU holding up the start of the next game...especially a Duke/UNC game. ESPN must have been so annoyed that our game went into OT.

I agree with all the sentiments expressed in this thread to date.

But I have to ask -- who the hell were those other teams, anyway?
Anyone we should worry about?:woohoo:

Port -- oh, man, I am so with you. At the time I was telling konza63 that one good thing we could take away from our OT was that it would keep puke and the tarred heels somewhere else.

I found it ironic that the seemingly spiteful ESPN powers-that-be chose to show the tarred heels at puke over their scheduled fare of Baylor hosting ISU until the tu @ KU game was finally over. Were they getting back at the Big 12 for interrupting their K orgy?

I mean gee, Baylor was only having to win the game to secure a share of it's second straight Big 12 regular season title.

And I truly enjoyed Hubert's Heels beating Krybaby K's kids in the last home game of Kfhqwzxvklzwfi's career,
(And I am so glad that after this season I will no longer have to deal with Army (USMA) grads who are faux Puke fans because USMA grad K was the Puke coach.)

I know Roy is is smiling tonight. B)
Good for him.

(I don't give a shite about The Traitor Smith. )

I agree, gorillahawk, but I must protest the use of "Coach Kringle".
To slight such a generous and well loved international hero by any association to the slimebag, pissyfaced (and actions) Coach Krassness is a true and heart rendering slam on the good name and character of Kringle.

And a note of warning -- if you know your Kringle lore, he may just be Odin Allfather in a more modern guise for modern times.
A word to the wise is sufficient... ;)

HE I am not as creative as you; but most know my position on Coach K/ Puke and it was poetic justice to watch UNC spoil the love fest. A lot of my colleagues, mostly Big 10 alumni, ask me why so much dislike for K/Puke saying he is successful 5 NCAAT, loads of great players…I simply said Grayson Allen and Christian Laettner are the epitome of K/Puke…so good riddance and if there is karma, may Puke’s program fade away…

I am no Duke fan but I am a fan of right and wrong. I am a fan or respect. Coach K deserves this attention and respect. He is the gold standard in coaching, love him or hate him personally and love or hate Duke they deserve respect. Just like Bill Self and Roy Williams and John Wooden and others. For me, I may want to see them lose every game, but when the whistle blows, I respect what is worthy of respect. I would hope that if Bill Self continues to coach for 15 more years at the same level he would be afforded this same treatment simply because in our world of worshipping our sports hero’s, he has checked all the boxes worthy of that level of respect. I root for Duke to lose every game. But as I said, when the whistle blows I tip my cap to them. That is how I was taught when I was growing up in my little Kansas farm town. The world in 2022 is changing the true virtues of social order. But I guess I am old fashioned and still believe that respect is a true virtue. I will probably be run off the board now and if that is the price then bring it on. I choose to eschew hatred and bitter animosity. Call me silly like that. I enjoy the peace I have that being respectful brings. Let Coach K have his moment. After 47 years of unparalleled success he deserves it. Even if for some of the wrong reasons.

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!

Corpus,

Kudos to you and l’ll just say everyone has a reason for their reaction to K/Puke and there is merit in that.

I respect his accomplishments.

Not the man.

One other point about respect, and this is not directed at K but at ESPN.

Kansas and Texas were locked in a battle that would decide whether or not KU earned at least a share of the Big 12 title. That game is what everyone watching from the beginning tuned in to ESPN to see.

For at least half of the airtime (it seemed to be at least that to me, anyway) viewers were subjected to yadda yadda yadda about K instead of the game. The network went so far as to split-screen images of K during critical moments of the Texas-Kansas game.

Unacceptable.

I am all for anyone who wants to do so celebrating K’s career.

I do not choose to, and having it forcefed to me ad nauseum does not in the slightest improve the likelihood that I will change my mind. Not letting KU fans - or any other fans of any other team - be able to focus on their team’s battle for the conference title by continually hyping the already most overhyped event of the year and the decade to date — THAT is no respect.

And to show further ESPN disrespect for the Big 12…

When our game went to OT and UNC @Duke started up, the ESPN powers-that-be opted to interrupt their regular ESPN2 programming - ISU @Baylor, with Baylor needing to win if Kansas did if the Bears were to earn a share of the title - to show the start of the UNC-Duke game.

To the best of my knowledge since going to the multiple networks and the app they have not done that before. But the hell with Baylor and the Big 12, we’re talking about Duke!

No respect.

If those folks have yet to figure out how to program for such a special event - like start it a half-hour later to allow for a lead-in show both further hyping the event AND allowing for the possibility of an OT game in the lead-in contest (because *that* never happens) - then they need to go find work elsewhere.

So EXCUSE ME if I’ve had enough of the slobberfest and was - and still am - irritated about being forced to endure it in order to try to enjoy *my* team play ball.

K is the greatest men’s college hoops coach of the modern era (1975 on).

I respect his accomplishments.

Doesn’t mean I care to participate in honoring him, as I do not respect him.

This is just another example of why I cannot stand K, and Duke. UNC ran them out of their gym, where is the respect? K was all chummy when Duke won at UNC?

I agree with all...being the one good payback about OT...the Split Screen and Respect/Disrespects issues...and the misuse of Kringle...was trying to think of Krampus or whatever the evil holiday demon's name...was just tired of hearing it all over and over...and comments like $85,000 per ticket, why that's Tuition Ha Ha Ha, etc...both institutions have their good and bad issues/histories...Good Roy/Bad Roy, NCAA, etc...but it was almost like being subjected to Dukie V constantly haranguing about them instead of calling our game in front of him...talk about Disrespect...Sorry I let myself be triggered...anyway, Rant Over ...Big 12 Champs Again! Rock Chalk! :) <3

Not I, for sure. It was distracting to have video of those two teams, neither of which I wanted to win, taking up half the screen!
