If you watched the BU @tu men’s Senior Game last night you may have noticed the talking heads mentioning on more than one occasion that “this is the last basketball game in the Erwin Center for Texas”… at least it was for the men’s team. The women’s team play their last Erwin Center game this Saturday as they host Oklahoma State for the tu women’s Senior Game.

Why?

Because the Erwin Center is being replaced by the Moody Center, a new, state of the art facility that will host tu’s hoops teams and other events starting this fall.

The current Erwin Center lands will become part of tu’s new Dell Medical Center teaching hospital, with demolition of the Erwin Center itself on the books for the future reuse of that acreage.

Moody Center seating capacity for hoops will normally be 10,000, with the option to expand to 15,000 for large games and other events. Definitely a step down in capacity from the 16,540 for hoops and 17,900 for other events available with the Erwin Center.

Waddya think?
