Trivia Question

1. 25 times a player has scored 30 or more points against Kansas since Self has been coach. 2 players have scored 30 or more twice against a Bill Self coached Kansas team. Can you name those two players. Obviously they are Big 12 players.

2. Ochai scored 37 for the 3rd most points scored by a Jayhawk under Self. Can you name the two players who have scored more.

3. 37 times a Jayhawk player has scored 30 or more points under Self. 8 players have scored 30 or more twice under Self. Can you name the most recent player to record his 2nd 30 point game?

4. Of the 37 players to score 30 or more under Self, 8 players have scored 30 or more twice, 2 players have scored 30 or more 3 times and 1 player has scored 30 or more 4 times under Self. Can you name the players to score 30 or more 3 and 4 times under Self.

I have no idea but using Socal's posts to give me some clues I will guess....

Buddy Hield is a good call and sounds better then Beasley.

Great questions…my noodle is dead…so no guess from me…

1. Last season Jared Butler scored 30 against Kansas. He also scored 31 the previous season. The other player to break 30 twice against Kansas under Self did it in back to back games 8 days apart. On 3/3/2007 Kevin Durant scored 32 points against Kansas. Then in the Big 12 tourney he scored 37. Incidentally, only the game last year against Baylor was a loss. The other three of these games were KU wins.

2. Kudo's to SocalHawk. On 3/8/2014 Andrew Wiggins had his best game as a Jayhawk and scored 41 points against West Virginia in Morgantown. KU still lost the game, 92-86. And on 2/25/2013 Elijah Johnson scored 39 points against Iowa St. in Ames. Of course that was the famous Melvin Weatherax game. You will notice that both of those games are on the road. So officially, Ochai Agbaji has the highest scoring game in Allen Fieldhouse under Self.

3. Tisk tisk tisk. This 3rd question was sort of a trick question. The last KU player to score 30 point games was, of course, Christian Braun. Last season he scored 30 points against St. Joseph's on 11/27/2020. Then this season on 12/3/2021 he scored 31 points against St. John's. Neither of those games were in Allen Fieldhouse. We obviously need to schedule more Saint schools for Christian.

4. Ben McLemore and Frank Mason III each scored 30 or more 3 times. McLemore in his only season in 2013, and Frank Mason III all in 2017 season, his senior season. McLemore went for 36, 30 and 33 while Mason went for 32, 30 and 30. But the most prolific 30 point scorer is Wayne Simien. He scored 30 or more 4 times, all under Self. Raef LaFrent also scored 30 or more 4 times but the Paul Pierce scored 30 or more 5 times. (I only have data back to 1994)
