I know this is an old fart comment, but what a joy it has been to watch a player show up without 5 stars and a constant eye on leaving for the NBA, stay four years and get better every year, go from a role player to a team leader to one of the best players in the country, and earn himself the privilege of moving on to the NBA and making millions - all the while keeping his nose clean and representing KU at the highest level.
Ochai did it right, and he’ll go down as one of my favorite all time players.
This is what I love about sports, and why it’s become harder for me to stay fully engaged watching so many players make a one or maybe two year stop over at KU (there’s the old fart part).
Way to go Ochai - Rock Chalk forever !

Amen! I know he is a junior, but would add Christian Braun to that list. Also, love that they are KC products - one from each side of the state line. They both play hard and mostly well.

So true AZ!
And Mitch has been at KU for, what, ten years now?

As a retired KU Prof, I also take great pride in the graduation rate of most KU athletes but the men's BB team has recently had a 100% graduation rate, correcting for out transfers, most within the 4 year period. Did you know that DMac is graduate student and will finish this year with a Masters, all in 4 years. In the case of Ochai and Christian, both come from strong and supportive families. However, I am almost more proud of those that come from a tougher background. I'm thinking of Garrett and Djuan. Kudos to them and those that reached out and helped them along the way.
