Ochai inbounding the ball looks like and acts like a deer staring into the headlights every time he is called upon to do this against any pressure. I would wager that if someone could find the info we would see his inbounding has resulted in a relatively high % of turnovers against the press.

So who would I have inbound the ball, especially late for a potentially last possesion of the game?
You want ball handlers, free throw shooters and scorers on the court, right?.

FT shooting ranking
(At least 20 attempts)
82% Braun
78% Agbaji
74% R. Martin
64% Dave
63% Mitch
59% Zach
52% JWilson
(15 to 19 attempts)
80% DH
80% JCL

So, if we agree the guys we want on the court late are
OA
CB
DMac
JWil
and
Remy or Dajuan (Remy if he is okay, as he is the better scorer)
Who do we have inbound?

6-8 Jalen Wilson, our worst FT shooter, inbounding to one of
CB
OA or
Remy
with DMac setting screens to get someone an opening

OA & CB are both good at getting open and are better FT shooters than JWil.
So is Big Dave if you can get him the ball without him bobbling it.
Remy as your 5th guy -- or Dajuan if Remy is still out -- and take it away.

I think it's worth a shot, given OA's issues inbounding.

Your thoughts?

I've always wondered why he has Agbagi inbounding and can only conclude that he has lower faith in him handling a tough pass played into him. Your right about Wilson being the better candidate from a FT point, BUT, Wilson is a better ball handler, does well surveying the big picture down the court, and can initiate a fast break if passed to. Also, the inbounding player is often forgotten after the inbound play, which then opens up the next move with Agbaji.

Bottom line, I have no idea why Self feels Agbaji is his best option for inbounding.

Something I have not seen in a while is when your inbounder can run the baseline set a screen with your best free throw shooter on the person guarding the inbounder. You give away the foul with no time going off the clock but you get to choose the free throw shooter and you prevent the chance of a steal. As far as the question about who should throw it in I do like Mr. Wilson but I also think we need to run more cross action to get a more open receiver of the pass.

We ran that play earlier this year with Remy setting the block and he was called for a flop. I have also seen refs refuse to call a penalty on that play. Maybe because the defender has right to his position as well as the inbounding player.

The key is the person inbounding the ball needs to lead the defender into the screen.
