CorpusJayhawk wrote: Hairy, I have seen pundits cite the Big Ten and The Sec and I even saw one say the Big east is the best conference. The problem with all of those assertions is they focus on the strength at the top and not the top to bottom. The SEC, as you cite, is stronger 1-10 than the Big 12 is. The top 10 teams in the SEC average rating of 0.740 vs. 0.722 for the Big 12. But that completely ignores the bottom 4 teams in the conference all of which are considerably lower rated than the lowest rated Big 12 team in Kansas State. My rating effectively measures your winning percentage if you played every team in the conference. The Big Ten, Big East and SEC can all boast being as good 10 deep as the Big 12. But you simply cannot ignore the worst 4 teams in a conference when gauging the conference.
And after this weekend's Big 12 beatdowns delivered by KANSAS (+37 against an SEC nobody), OSU (+18 over #22 Wisc B1G ), OU (+22 over #12 Arkansas SEC ) and Baylor (+21 over #6 Nova BEast ), and the #10 squids (SEC) losing at unranked ND (ACC), they gonna have to reevaluate anyway.

Big 12 -- 37.85
Big 10 -- 56.05
Big East -- 56.23
Southeastern -- 70.02
Atlantic Coast -- 82.15
Pac 12 -- 87.91
This is the average rank of the teams in each conference. The composite of all the computers ratings (including Sagarin, KenPom, DPPI, etc) cannot be wrong. The Big 12 currently is totally dominant.

Yeah, thanks JR.
Can’t believe I misread that.
But who the heck plays conference games this early?
You’d think I’d know better at my age to try to post stuff after 10PM.
