I think restarting the MU-KU rivalry is interesting. I hope it's fun, and not as vile as it had gotten in the last few years of its existence. It stopped being fun at the end, and was just plain bad.
Strangely, I have some really negative personal vibes coming back that I had forgotten about for years. Over the years I've had very good natured ribbing from all sorts of fans of other schools - KSt, KY, UNC, etc. But rarely have I run into a Mizzou fan who isn't really angry about KU and who isn't mean about their dislike for KU. There is real hatred coming from the MO side (which is where I was raised, so I'm one of "them"). I hope it's a great rebirth of a rivalry, and maybe those of us with bad blood are now too old to do much about it.
But still - let's blow them out and then text all our Mizzou friends (he he).
Rock Chalk!

Don't worry about the mules, just load the wagon!!
I can’t recall the year but it was in the late 90’s or early 2000’s. My wife and I flew to London and who was on the flight, Norm Stewart and his wife. I purposefully did not talk to him on the flight. As we were waiting for our bags he actually came up to me to engage me since I was covered in KU gear. He was delightful. Quite gregarious and good-natured. We did not talk long, maybe 5 minutes. I had no sense of hatred or animosity of any kind. In fact, he was quite effusive. We did trade some good-natured barbs. I found him witty and engaging. I never hated Mizzou exactly. I even rooted for them when they played non-Big 12 or non-Big 8 games. But in all honesty I had less affinity for Mizzou than any other school by a good margin. I am not particularly a fan of rekindling the rivalry. For me, at least, the rivalry is a thing of the past. Maybe that will change at tip-off tomorrow. But right now it seems more annoying to me than exciting.

I agree - I see no point to the redux.

Buck and Maya are spot on.
mOO fans need to follow their course.
In my career and travels around the country and the world, I have run into college sports fans every place I have been. No other fan base has been so evenly, predictably nasty as the Missouri fan base when it comes to KU (although the KState fan base has made some noise in this area).
IMO for fans college sports should be about fun and teasing each other and having a good time.
Kansas playing Missouri has been anything but for me in decades, but especially in the past 20 years, because of the way they treat me and my friends.
I don't hate them, but I feel plenty of hate from them at almost every meeting. I have no desire to have such a source of irritation and nastiness in my life and was quite content to see the games end when they chose to leave the conference (especially with how they chose to leave).
"Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime." - Mark Twain "Innocents Abroad"
